Niagara falls for new years? |
I want to go with my friend and our boyfriends to Niagara Falls for the New Year, however I am worried about it being too cold and since it is the off season I am nervous that a lot of the attractions will be shut down. Has anyone been there recently or lives there that can tell me what it is like and what kind of stuff there is to do there? I know that the maid of the mist isn't running [obviously]... |

I live in Toronto, and often go to Niagara for a night out. I will actually be there this weekend for my birthday.
Despite the cold, there is plenty to do on the Canadian side. There are lots of bars, the casinos, outlet malls, and I am sure that the attractions that are not weather-dependent will be open. I went to Niagara once on New Years a few years ago, and we all went down to the falls they had an open air party/countdown. It was packed, and lots of fun.
Happy New Year!
PS If you like a good steak, go to the Keg inside the Embassy Suites for dinner. It overlooks the falls and is super romantic in the evening! |

Niagara Falls on News Year Eve can by amazing. but you will have to book a hotel room. go to tripadvisor to see which hotel has a high rating.
Their is a concert in the park on News Years Eve. Honeymoon suite, loverboy, kim mitchell and Roger Hodgeson are playing its at Queen Victory park. the festival of lights are also on.
google niagara falls hotel packages.
and a little tip if you stay you will be charged an extra fee. it's called DMF or destination marketing fees, you can refuse to pay this fee. if you do pay it, it is for promoting tourism. it might also show up at DPF. |

I would definitely suggest the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum. Its AMAZING!! Also try Louis Tassaud's Wax Museum.. thats always a lot of fun. There's tons of stuff there- haunted houses, a human maze etc. You can usually buy packages to go to a few different attractions too.
PS. if you ever go back in the summertime, try jet boating. Its like maid of the mist elevated to 50x the excitement :) |

I live right beside Niagara Falls so i can help you out. First off, an average Hotel will run you about 250-400 dollar's. That's just for one night. New Year's is the most expsensive time of the the year to go to Niagara. High end Hotel's are even more, up to 600 plus a night. The cheapest and closest Hotel that is near Clifton Hill and Victoria Park where the Firework's and the New Year's concert's are is the Blackstone Inn. It's the best deal you will find in Niagara. And yes, it is bitter cold down by the Falls so dress warm. And if you hate crowd's then don't go. We had over 30,000 people last year for the concert and firework's. Hope this helped. I am a Niagara Falls nearby resident so you won't get any better info. Hope this helped. |

I went there a few years ago combined with a trip to Toronto. It was really pretty with ice coating everything. Toronto is only a couple of hours away with tons to do there, and lots of plays, resturants and cool shopping. |

I live on the American side and me and my family have always stayed at Michael's Inn http://www.michaelsinn.com/ every New Year and we go out and enjoy the wonderful Winter Festival of Lights and fireworks and illumination of the falls http://wfol.com al of Clifton Hill's attractions are open and lively! I always say to people you have not really seen Niagara Falls until youve visited in the Fall due to the beatuy of the leaves changing and the wonderful tempurature it brings, the winter for the wonderful lights and the falls looks beautiful surroneded by white snow and summer for all the toursity attractions! You won't regret visting on New Years its spectacular! The people are great the atmospehere is great! Even though not all of the attractions arre open there plenty to keep you busy! Plus right now all you need is a birth certficate and govt issued photo ID. |
