Oppurtunity to move to Canada? Should i go?

I today just found out some of my grandmothers friends in Canada will sponsor me to go over there and work for however long. But i was recently planning to move to sydney, a state away from where i currently live, with a friend which ive been wanting to do for two years..and really dont want to let my friend down. What should i do? should i take this as a oppurtunity of a lifetime sort of thing?
Additional Details

I live in Canada. Grew up in Nova Scotia, now in Newfoundland for school. Some parts of Canada are definitely worth visiting if you get the chance, but is it possible that you can make the trip here sometime later? You can always go with your friend now, and maybe do the working thing later.
If it's Canada you're concerned about, I can assure you it's a great place to live, but if you really feel like you'd be letting your friend down, then maybe it's not worth it.

Your " Grandmothers friends " CANNOT sponsor you to get to Canada.

You have to go thru the same Immigration process as anyone else.

Unless you are a certified and experienced trades person, .like a carpenter, electrician, or auto mechanic, or you have a University graduate degree, you probably won't qualify to come to Canada. Our Immigration system is designed to fill vacant jobs here.

You have to consider which one would be the best to expand your career, or to expand your future life. Also you would probably want to look at the one that you would be able to benefit from the most. Have you wanted to see Canada? or would you prefer to stay in Australia?

Here are some things that you might want to consider:

1) Are you wanting to experience all 4 seasons?
2) Do you want to experience different biomes or ecosystems?
3) Do you want to explore different areas within the environment or other areas within the country?
4) Do you want to further your education or further your career?
5) Do you want to explore other ways of doing things?
6) Do you want to experience things like skiing, snowboarding, dog sledding etc.?

These are some of the questions that might be able to help you make a decision. Here is my website that I have made on BC, which you might be interested in looking at some of the pictures and stuff arond the area.

You wouldn't stay in Canada permanently or anything, so why not check it out?

If you feel like moving to Sydney afterward, you can always go back to your country. Your friend will still be there (unless s/he's mega immature)

Right now...Australia is the hottest driest country in the world. I just got back and loved it! Between Canada and Aussi land theres not much differance...Except accents...a bottle of water there is 5 bucks and the climat differance. In Canada we get the same weather as America...even hotter sometimes...but if you're going up north it'll get pretty chilly. But no one lives up there anyways....So coming from a Canadian I'd have to say...both are great country's but over all Canada's amazing and i'll pick it over anything

Whats wrong with your friend going to Sydney on her own? Does she need you to hold her hand?
Its your life and future and as you say.... why give up this opportunity of a lifetime? Give it a year and if it doesnt work out you can always come back and join your friend.

move to melbourne, not sydney.
currently though, with the money conversion transfer rates probably not a good idea going overseas until the dollar picks up.

If your guaranteed a job over there though then go for it for the experience.

I can't make the decision for you, although I am a Canadian and I love Canada, my favourite country, and if you come here, you will love it.

you can always work in your own country, that's not going to dissapear, getting a chance to go work in canada hardly ever comes along i'm sure! so grab it with both hands and maybe go back to work in sydney later if you still want to. See the world! Canada is AWESOME!

Jim is right. I know this as a teenage Australian who is moving to Canada. My father is sponsoring me and we're currently waiting on Mississauga for their decision. You should probably go to uni, get a degree, work a few years and then apply as a skilled worker for Canada.

Bummer though, I've been to Canada and it is an awesome country, I LOVE IT!
