Left Coast Liberal

Ottawa, Ontario or Kingston, Ontario?

Which city is more interesting?

I've lived in them both and loved them both. Ottawa is a big city with all the blessings and problems all big cities have. Since it's the capital of Canada it is very government oriented with a good portion of the population working for the government or dependent on government business and employees. It's easier if you speak both official languages, but not necessary. Kingston is a smaller city. The people are happy and pleasant and polite and act as if they were in a small town. In fact I would describe Kingston as a city that thinks like a small town. Kingston is in a better location about 1/2 way between Toronto and Montreal, and not too far from Ottawa. It's closer to shopping in New York State. Given a choice and if the job situation were about equal, I would most definitely pick Kingston. Good luck!!

I'd say Ottawa. Kingston is just a normal ho hum place, but Ottawa has a lot to do and good food. It's also right beside Quebec which is fun.

Both are unique. It's be hard to choose between the two. Both have great history, both have great sights and both have a lot of things you can do.
Some examples:
The canal in winter for skating-Ottawa
The St Lawrence and islands for boating or sightseeing cruises- Kingston
Parliament buildings and museums- Ottawa
Old Fort Henry and sunset ceremonies- Kingston
Great pubs and restaurants-Both
Waterfronts-Both
Scenic-Both

Ottawa for me! Hands down!

That depends on what interests you. Ottawa, as the capital of Canada, is a fascinating place for historians. If you aren't a history buff, it's still a great place to visit. But then, so is Kingston. Why not google up both of them and find a web site so you can check out what each offers and see what appeals to you most.
