hmmm tough question. I live in Manitoba, I have seen them a few times, but I can't predict when. Don't count on seeing them. I don't think there is a season, but maybe check on google for more info. Yes the farther north you go, the better. You might want to consider taking a trip to Churchill Manitoba to see the polar bears.

I used to live in the far SE corner of Saskatchewan and they were beautiful in August. Usually in the early evening. Anywhere up further north into the territories is a sure bet though.

Its the northern lights you want to see, usually the best time to see them is in the fall and winter months. And you have to go North to see them, I saw them once in Oct around the Cochrane area when I was moose hunting, what a delight, we watched them for hours.

rimples25
they are most visable in the prairie provinces Saskatchewan I hear is the best, I'm not sure if there is a particular time of year to view them or not,I've seen them in spring and summer months, for sure though.
They are also called "The Northern Lights" and they are beautiful!

Unfortunately you probably will not see them. I'm a Canadian and have never seen them. Granted I live in Toronto which doesn't help... But all the times I've been up north, I haven't been lucky enough to see them.

The further north you go the greater the chance that you'll see them. Unfortunately there is still lots of snow and cold in April.

They are most visible in the Northern areas. The best are in Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario. They often happen around the beginning of winter, though there weren't too many this year. They often appear around 1-3am.

The average temperature of Canada veries by towns. In the summer most areas are around 25 C, in the winter it is not uncommon to see -20 C. However, it is much colder in the North, and warmer near British Columbia.
