Quebec currency?

I'm heading to Quebec in about 2 weeks to Mont Tremblant for some snowboarding action. Will I have to convert my American dollars to use there? If the answer is obvious, pardon my ignorance

Unless you are planning on taking a suitcase full of money, you could just take your debit/credit card and use the ATM. American card goes in, local money comes out - worldwide. The rate is usually much closer to the rate you see on the news that way (that's good) and you won't end up swapping for some Canadian Tire money (that's bad.)

Although I do recommend tucking a little bit of cash away somewhere safe for emergencies.

They use the Canadian Dollar, but you can use American dollars as well, but the conversion rate wont be as good as if you go to the bank, theyll try to charge you a few extra bucks. But go to the bank ahead of time and just convert a bit, you can always convert more once your there, but remember, the American dollar is crap

Canadian money...

Lots of places will accept American currency, but you'll be further ahead of you convert before you depart. Shop around - I've found a wide variance in conversion rates from bank to bank to credit union.

Also, beware credit cards. While you may get a good rate of exchange, the credit card companies hide an added "outside of the country fee" in every transaction.

As for debit cards, check with your bank. You'll need to be sure yours is compatible - part of an international network and that your PIN number "travels". You may need a longer PIN.

You can most likely use your US money. they will just convert it

.:::Niko:::.
There is no such thing as Quebec currency.Most of the businesses in Canada accept US dollars.

No such thing as "Quebec Currency". It's part of Canada, even though there are many who would prefer it differently, and they use the Canadian Dollar, which is almost exactly the same as a US dollar these days. I'm guessing they might take both. Border areas always have.

"Quebec" currency? It's the same as Canadian currency. You can pretty much use your American dollars there but you may want to convert your US dollars to Canadian dollars first. That saves the vendor having to convert Canadian dollars to US dollars. The currency exchange rate is so volatile that you may find yourself paying a lot more in US dollars.

Vanilla Rose
I would definitely change a few U.S. dollars for Canadian dollars before leaving home if I were you!

Happy snowboarding at Mont-Temblant by the way!

Rajapandian G
Obviously yes and If you convert it in your home place you will get better rate of exchange.
