Green Cards are out - they are part of the American system.
barney Rubble is also wrong - some of the regulars in here research their answers pretty well. However, having said that, I truly believe in doing my own research and in asking questions of the people who are most likely to know absolutely, the answers, especially in areas where the roof over your head and the food in your stomach are concerned as they most definitely are here. You will find those people in a government of Canada office.
There are rather stringent rules involved in crossing the border to work. So do a little research yourself and here is your starting point
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp
Being a minor as you would be seen as on this side of the border, I doubt very much if this would be simple and even if you were older, it is still a tough mountain to climb if you do not have the right gear - a great education and/or training. There are exceptions to most rules and if you think there might be reason for there to be an exception made for you, the best thing you can do is write the people who make the decisions and check- start with the link above. It is also a good start if you are looking to come up here somewhere down the road and are just in the planning stages.
Good Luck with your research.
Edit: Ignore Jake. Apparently we have some rude dudes in Canada too. |

"Hi" to put it in simple terms"No" unfortunately you can't, as much as we'd like to have you come here for the summer ! *S*.
There is a whole lengthy process you have to go through to work here if you are from a foreign country , and if you are only 16 it just won't fly !
I could give you a ton of sites to visit but I think your question was exploratory and you were just entertaining the possibility and as such were just looking for a truthful , straight up, not bending the rules, answer ....so I gave it to you as gently and honestly as I could , and it's a "no" at your age ...,.......and I'm sorry because you seem intelligent and pleasant ,and your question seemed sincere! *S*
Hope that helps ya young lady and one day in the future you have to come and visit us ok ..we'd like that ! *S* (Michael C) |

no sorry your green card is useless in canada, and you are too young for a work permit
old lady is wrong, to get a student visa you need to be enroled in a school in canada first and you must pay the tuition fees(high international fees) and start your course before you can work |

Canada does not have green cards -- that's just an American thing.
You cannot get a job in Canada without a Canadian work permit. You might want to check with the nearest Canadian consulate if Canada has a similar program to the USA's J-1 visa program for summer student interns. |

You can get a student visa, which allows you to work, but at 16 you have to also have a notarized letter of permission from your parent or guardian that states you have permission to do this. |

Get in touch with the Canadian consulate. That is my answer. Any other answers on this board are not trustworthy. |

you can always work with someone else's id (ie if you don't mind breaking the law). legally, you are not allowed to work here without a work permit if you are not canadian. however, how do you think some of these illegal immigrants work to earn a living for themselves and their families? they use other people's id. i'm not telling you to do this but just letting you know there are other ways to work in a country if you don't have the required documents. afterall it's better than stealing the money. |
