Question for people who Live(ed) ni Toronto? |
Hey everyone, I gotta ask y'all something. Whats the average cost of an apartment/house in Toronto, if its in a good location etc..... Additional Details Well I wouldn't really like to live in downtown. Maybe somewhere a bit further, I dont really know anything about Toronto's neighborhoods so I don't know what to say while choosing the neighborhoods. Although I was thinking maybe like 15-30 minuets further from downtown |

You are asking about renting an apartment in the 4th largest city in North America....it isn't going to be cheap.
$1500 to $2400 for a one bedroom in the core is normal.
Go North of the 401, east of the DVP and the other side of the Humber river to get under $1500.
...Or try a basement apartment...lol. |

if its downtown it will cost you a great amount.. but if your more in the north york, etobicoke area, rent for an appartment could range from 800-1000.
As for a house... id say 400 000 - 1 000 000 000 (depending on how close it is downtown, its access to transportation, how close it is to a mall.. it all factors into the price.)
But check out MLS.com and you can search up houses in toronto, what area, and your price range... good luck.. its an awesome place to live |

A one bedroom runs anywhere between $1000-$1400/month maybe more the closer you get to the Lake Shore. My sister-in-law pays $2400/month for a one bedroom condo right on the Lake Shore. These prices usually do not include utilities. My advice, look for something in the nicer neighbourhoods outside of the downtown core. |

It really depends on where in Toronto u want to live (e.g Downtown, Scarbrough, GTA, etc.). prices vary from diffrent places in Toronto. If u live in downtown Toronto, the prices will be more expensive. So for an exact price of an house/apartment, i will need to noe where in toronto u want to buy ur home, cause location is very important. houses can range from ( in the whole Toronto and GTA) $100 000-10 million+. but of course u have to be fairly rich to live in the houses that are worth millions, lol. i would not suggest u pick downtown toronto as an home, because the houses there would rather be crappy and old, or new (with BEAUTIFUL views and houses/apartments) that cost QUITE alot. Not very long ago, there were these luxory condiminums just released for sale, the prices??? 2 million to 10 million!!!! there was a HUGE lineup the first day the condos were for sale.
so i really need an EXACT location (like Scarbrough, Downtown, etc) for the prices.
check umm i think this was their website (i'm not 100% sure): www.newhomes.ca for tons of new homes/condos/apartments throughtout the GTA and toronto. Good Luck! |

Not a good location because, the price there is about1,500 or lower . It's because the attractions there, so find something else if you can. |

It's difficult to get a one-bedroom for less than $1000 per month unless it's a basement or well off the beaten path, or both. The university/college neighborhoods are good locations for cheaper housing, but it also tends to be older, smaller, and not always up to code.
The house/condo market has been roaring hot for several years now, but maybe if you keep an eye on the newspapers you'll spot a bargain. Average cost will vary by area.
Of course housing is much cheaper in the suburbs -- Mississauga, for example -- but then you have to deal with the problem of congested roads and sardine-packed commuter trains. It's never easy.
Good luck in your search. |

I had a look at your other answers. I live in Mississauga. However, if you don't know the area, I recommend you go on line to our largest newspaper The Toronto Daily Star.com - then the classified section for rentals and you will get a pretty good idea of what to expect - in the area of $1,000. to $1,500. |
