Question to Canadians?

Should our Forces stay longer in Afghanistan then the deadline put forth by our government? Should we be there in the first place?

I don't think any of the troops should be there. It's not a war any more, it's a suicide mission. Everyday you hear about soldiers dying. Pull them out for crying out loud.

We can't fix what is going on over there. As much as I'd like to see that area of the world in peace, it just won't happen and that's that. Why are we sending out soldiers over there to die?

It's all over oil now anyways.

Canada should not pull out of Afghanistan but should go to a less dangerous region. Right now we are in the south and when i went. I would get shot at about 1 or 2 times a day. The streets are riden with IED's and it is very dangerous. But the people their do need our help. We should not stay their forever but we need to pull out slowly. I say we should have all our troops out by 2013.

I am not sure who Linda C talks to but I find her answer crude and offensive. Canadians do not use the deaths of our soldiers to have bragging rights. What a sicko thing to say! What a thoughtless thing to write on an open Internet forum where family members and friends could read it. Whether you approve of our being there or not, no one has the right to cheapen the efforts of the men and women who have gone there under order of a Canadian Government and lost their lives. If you disapprove of our being there, write your M.P. and let your feelings be known. Do not write thoughtless drivel in here.

Adrian ....Bravo Zulu on your comments.

For those who don't know or understand........

The CF does not MAKE soldiers go to serve in Afghanistan.

In order to go, a person has TO VOLUNTEER, and then they have to be accepted to go, They have to be one of the military trades that is needed over there;. There are not many slots open for payroll clerks and warehouse fork lift drivers, but we do need lots of medics and of course tough and smart infantry types.

If this is a waste of time, why are the CF guys still applying to go BACK, to do another tour in Afghanistan ? Why are the recruiters being swamped by new applicants, who are asking for that to be their first "posting " after they have finished their training here in Canada ?

Some of you need to talk to a CF soldier, who HAS been there, and listen to their words, not the defeatist talk of the NDP and the leftist " peace at any cost " idiots.

For those of you who are too young know this fact......

In World War two, we took casualties of 100 A DAY for weeks on end , during the fighting in Italy, France, Belgium and Holland , and finally in Germany, and we kept on going forward. Canadians soldiers don't quit, and we don't go home until it's over and done with.

We don't START wars, but we do FINISH them.

Forget that " Peace keepers " crap. The real job of the CF is to fight and KILL our enemies, and to do it with brute force and fury. They die so that YOU can live in peace. Don't forget that.

These are hard and brave men and women , who fight, so that you may sleep secure in your bed at night. The very least that you can do is respect their sacrifice.

We shouldn't stay a second longer. Our troops are sitting ducks and they just keep getting picked off. Kaboom. Another roadside bomb. Kaboom. Whoops, there's another one. What for? Just to please the U.S. agenda.

I agree with how the we intervened there because of all the people who were under a terrible man's regime and needed to be freed. I think by pulling the troops out at any point, things will revert back somewhat to the way things were. You can't help everyone all the time, but what about other places that have needed help? What about Rwanda? Why were we so unwilling to step in there? Because nothing Iraq, or specifically Saddam Hussein, did was any more of a personal affront to the us than what happened in Rwanda.

I don't think the reasons for going into Iraq in the first place were valid, I think it was greed that drove Bush and his followers. But I'm still glad that the Iraqi people were freed from a madman.

Too many people are dying.
I really hope they would pull out soon because Canada seems to use these deaths as bragging rights about how "heroic" we are...
