Renaming the 401?

what do you think about what there thinking about renaming the 401 (or part of it). They're thinking about renaming it "The Highway of Hero's". i think its really nice. its respective to the hero's that its named after (fallen soldiers). and it sounds pretty cool.

what's your opinion on the name?

No problem at all, and no one will get lost because they will become familiar with that stretch of highway by it's 'unique' name and what an honor for the families of the deceased and the surviving troops.

Highway 416 between Prescott and Ottawa is already the "Veterans Memorial Highway", honoring Canadian veterans of all wars.

mr_fartson
The 401 already has a name given about 30 years ago - the "MacDonald Cartier Freeway," named after two important founders of Canada. The name is rarely used, however.

I like the idea of providing a memorial for the soldiers.

Too many Canadians have been killed in wars up to now. Why start renaming highways because the soldiers are just doing their jobs.No highways have been renamed when police, firemen die.

tuppenybitz
i think its an apt name and a great idea

Better then "the Death Strip"
but "Highway of Hero's?? Nope
Veteran's Drive is much more appropriate...

I like the idea. I think it`s a good way to honour those who died for others` freedom.

I think its easier just 401 so nobody will get confused and when there checking out the map they will know what high way to go on and they wont get lost or something lol. But either way it sounds good but just a tad tacky.(But it is a good cause so i really dont know)
