China town area and around Jasper ave would be my first two picks for the worse areas. |

Whyte Ave is pretty bad at night time, 118th is pretty bad for prostitution, drug dealers, robberies and so on; but its not all that bad my neighborhood is pretty good and not all that troublesome when its very cold outside(hah)... Actually the whole city is shty if you ask me. |
|

happyday to you

i agree....around 118 th ave, downtown. anywhere close to downtown is gross and rough, especially 97st area....ewww |

I have lived here all my life some parts of millwoods are not all that bad but you need to stay away from millbourne area and the vicinity south and east of millwoods town centre. anywhere around downtown can be scary especially the east side. Beverly is bad area on the north side and avoid places that advertise abbotsfield its right by Beverly and although is not bad for living is still to close for comfort. for mid cost bannerman and heritage is a ok place to be and close to major transit but the best places always come at a price especially nowadays you can look into terwilligar which is fair price and great community living and I haven't heard of any crime as well there is also riverbend look around and if you have any concerns on crime demographic in the area you choose you can always visit the local police station and they can help you out further |

Yep I have to agree with most of the people who are commenting. They are right on the money. Parts of Millwood’s, just about anywhere on the north side of the river, Whyte Ave.
Bonnie Doon is pretty safe, but it now too is changing. A lot of criminals live in that area and they don’t advertise in their own neighborhoods.. They take it elsewhere and use only Millcreek Ravine for a quick get away from the cops..LOL (lived there for 6 years seen a lot).. Capilano has changed too.. Still a number of burglaries in Garages.
Even in the rough areas like, the Stadium, 118ave.. There are blocks where things are quite and have excellent neighbors with beautifull homes. And nothing happens in those sections. Its quite odd. For example take a 20 block area... first 3 are horrible.. the next 5 are quite, nice, families and good people, then you go another 4 blocks and it’s the shits again and so on.
Lately just about anywhere in Edmonton isn’t safe, I’ve seen too much. Born and raised there. So we left the city. Moved to a small town. But even here there is a lot of activity too. Its all thanks too the boom we are attracting every type of person. The kids of these people (yuppie or posh family types) are causing most of the issues.
I truly mean this..
These days criminals have absolutely no class or imagination, No flare to them what so ever. When I was a kid and before my time during the Mob era they kept it to their own ONE on ONE. And actually robbed places that had MONEY, VALUABLES, actually did some bloody homework before doing something. Even drug dealers had class for crisis sakes. |

downtown, 118 ave, Millwoods, anywhere late at night, especially around bars or nightclubs |

118 avenue. My brother lives in a ground level apartment. He has been robbed twice, and his car was stollen from right outside his patio door. Lots of prostitutes and beggers. |

I lived on 118ave and 82nd st. It is a bit of a rough neighborhood. Personally I have never had a problem there but I know some people had thier cars broken into and some robberies down by the colliseum subway. I moved there cause the rent was cheap - if your a single dude id say go for it but - if you have a familly or a girlfriend dont go near there its too dangerous. |

PKUmom, there are tons of nice, neighborly places in Edmonton that are free of all that bad stuff!
To answer your question, I would stay away from Whyte Ave and most of the communities really close to Whyte Ave. Some parts of downtown are pretty rough, too. |
