If you're a student and this is a geography question....

No NAFTA is good for Canada's economy and it helps it to benefit from other countries. United we stand.

Anyone who says Canada, US, Mexico, basically any country should get rid of a FTA is an idiot and knows nothing about economics. It's called mutual advantages and it's a basic concept - make the goods where you can make them the most efficiently. The US/Canada/Mexcio have all benefited immensely from NAFTA (overall). Sure, some communities have suffered, but OVERALL, there have been huge gains on all sides.

If they got rid of NAFTA, the countries would become even less competitive against other trading giants like the EU and China. NAFTA allows three powerful countries to work together and get the best deals. Breaking up and trying to negotiate separately = less negotiating strength and giving up a lot of hard earned gains. And, just think of the huge cost involved in reforming all of the supply and manufacturing chains to fit into a non-NAFTA environment. The world economy isn't going that well, thanks in part, to poorly thought out and implemented financial regulation like Basel II. Getting rid of NAFTA would only put Canada/Mexico/USA even further in the hole.

It would be stupid for either the US or Canada to end NAFTA. Canadians are paid similar wages to Americans, so it's not like we're stealing jobs. Our health care system does make it cheaper for businesses to operate. GM says building a car in Canada saves them $1500 per vehicle on health care costs.

And thanks to our health care system Canadians are healthier than Americans (we live longer, we have fewer infant deaths, etc.)

But if you ended NAFTA it would cost the US far more than Canada. Canada has lots of natural resources, like oil and gas. Ditch NAFTA and the USA no longer has first rights to our energy products. And it may surprise you to know that Canada is America's number one energy source. Saudi Arabia is number three.

That's something Obama has neglected to tell voters.

Canada has bigger fish to fry then li'll old NAFTA. Canada is working through the back door to bring The North American Union into being. Just last week, I saw an item on offer through Ebay priced in what.....??? not Dollars but in "$A." What is this you may ask? This is the Amero, which is about to be put into place of the green back and is good for the U.S., Canada, and MEXICO!!
