Should I move to Canada?

I graduated from high school a year ago and am thinking about going to school in Canada. I live in northern New England right now and don't have any family in Quebec, but I would only be a couple of hours away from family (we live close to the border). I really like Quebec, and think it would be better for me to start my life there. Tuition (even for international students) is also much more affordable. Should I go for it?

You are right about tuition being a lot more affordable in Quebec, and most of Canada. It is because tuitions are partially government subsidized in Canada. You really need to think about what program you are going to be taking, and where you would like to live after you graduate. If you plan on moving back to the US, you may need to take special courses in order to have your degree be transferrable to America (I know I would with my degree).

Don't listen to people about the whole French/English thing. I have a friend who went to school in Montreal and never even took a core French program in high school. She came out of university on the dean's list. I think you need to do whatever is best for you. If you end up not liking it, most basic arts credits should be transferrable to the US if you would like to continue your education there.

Why not? If you like the place then go for it. I haven't been to Quebec, but I hear it's a really nice place. I can only tell you it's great living in Canada. :)

Good luck, and to help you on your way, check out the link provided in source to start filing your papers. Keep in mind though, that you'll have to learn to speak French if you want to live in Quebec.

You need to do more research. If you like higher prices and high taxes on everything, go ahead and move. Car insurance is also higher.

Canada is a great place as long as you don't bring anti-canada opinions with you. I would stay away from Quebec though. They speak mainly french and are discriminatory against english-speaking people (generalized, I know). A lot of people in Quebec don't like other people in in Canada and vice versa. Move to another place but yes, Canada is great!

no one here seriously complains about americans or gives them a hard time. It a running joke up here but hey we are cousins and good nature ribbing goes both ways eh.
. It would be good to spend some time in a slightly different culture and its about as different as you can get that close to home. Montreal is a very bilingual city with tons of post-secondary schools in both english and french.

you need a student visa to stay check details at

Dont do it!! Move somewhere else like australia or somewhere in the world where they dont complain about Americans all day!!! Save yourselfff....!!

Cindy
Well, the Canadian guy doesn't want you there (lol), but it's really up to you. You are already in a very beautiful part of our country, so why would you move. Also, Quebec is the French part of Canada and they don't seem to like us Americans. Evidently, they also think Texas is in the northern New England states.
