Right now it is a provincial decision, and it is already 19 in most places in Canada. I see no reason for it to be the same everywhere. Different provinces have different needs.

The information that you didn't mention that is connected to this issue is that possession and consumption of alcohol is legally restricted in many communities in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and other parts of Canada.

MasterPython
It is up to the provinces. No reason for the feds to stick their nose in where it does not belong. Old enough to vote and die for your contry should be old enough to drink. Hell they let sixteen year olds join the army with parental consent here, they should get a drinking licence.

The only reason it is the same in all the states is because the federal government will not pay for the hi-ways of any state that does not have a legal drinking age of 21 or higher.

I just love Sam!
yeah , it's not though

No it's a provincial decision, provinces are annoyed enough with federal impingement on their jurisdiction, it doesn't make sense to add one more thing.

I think so....
it should be 18
It would make more scence and it would be less confuzing
if the whole cuntry had the same age
I find it very annoying that if you like to drink and you live in alberta , then maybe you decide to go to bc .... YOU`D HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER YEAR TO DRINK EVER AGAIN!

Yes, it should be 19 across the entire country.

The drinking age should be regulated by the provinces. It's just states when you are legal to buy or consume in a pub or food establishment

I've been told that there is a sort of loop hole where a person under the legal age is allowed to consume liquor in their own home with permission from a parent or guardian....or something like that.

jenny
I don't see why it should be. Each province is bigger than most countries (well, except for the maritimes) so they all have different needs.

Biddie
Well, I only see that three of them are 18 yrs of age so I would guess that it depends on the mayor or govner of that providence. I think if you are in the military you should be able to drink at 18 you can fight for your country but you can't drink.

No thats their choise, and theirs only. it's not for us to choose. it's their law not ours. They aarn't part of united states just america. not one of the 50 states.
