Should we go to Vancouver or Victoria, Canada?

A couple friends and I are from Seattle, and want to spend 3-5 days in one of these places? Which do you recommend, and why?

Why don't you spend 3 days in Vancouver and 3 days in Victoria ?
3 days is truely all you need to stay in each.
They are very close to each other too, just hop abord a BC Ferry.
When you are in Victoria, stay at the Empress Hotel, or dress up fancy and head down there for their afternoon tea.
Vist the Royal Museum.
Go Whale Watching.
In Vancouver...
GO SHOPPING !

It would probably depend on whether you want to rent a car or not. Vancouver is a bustilng city with tons to do, great beaches and huge shopping malls. However, there is a lot of urban sprawl, so you would need a car if you wanted to do a variety of things. Victoria is more of a comact city, and it is apparently the most walkable city in Canada. There is less to do than in Vancouver but it is a bit quieter and the people I have met there are frendlier than in Vancouver (but that's just based on my personal experiences). I love both of these cities, and they are both a must-visit! :)

Why not both? Vancouver has better shopping, but Victoria is more cultured and has the maritime and wax museum...they're both great places, research a bit.

I've been to both of these places, and they are quite similar. Vancouver is a bigger city with more attractions, so if I were you I'd probably go there. However, if you're looking for the nicest place to go in BC, I would recommend Kelowna, which is my favorite. It has a great mountain view and the Okanagan, which is the home of the OgoPogo (kinda like Nessie but with a wackier name).

Depends on how old you are, and what you enjoy. Vancouver is a large sophisticated city with skiing close by, a vibrant night life, and actually is more like Seattle, though with less rain.

Victoria is charming, much smaller, has great pubs, and you can drive or take the train up farther north on the east coast. Or go to Tofino on the west coast. Its a beautiful city, cheaper to stay in, and still has the old city charm. Has Buchardt Gardens which is amazing year round.

So it depends on what you want to do in your five days. Summer is wonderful in both places for walking and seeing museums and parks.

Well I spent1 month in each place and Vancouver is far more interesting than Victoria, in Victoria if you are going for just 5 days its pretty nice, but if you go for two weeks or more im pretty sure you would get bored, so my suggestion is Vancouver, because it has more places for you to visit and there are far more stores in Vancouver. So take my advice and go to Vancouver.

I am not knocking Victoria, but there is a lot more to do in Vancouver. After all, Victoria is known as a retirement haven and just about all Victorians under the age of 50 or so complain about how quiet it is. Vic has its pubs, but nothing like Van's nightclubs. However it is easy to get between the two cities by floatplane so you could do both. I think it costs about $75 each way and takes about 20 minutes. The floatplane docks are downtown in both cities.

depends what you want and when you are going. if you wanna ski go to vancouver and ski whistler. you will be sking on the same runs a the olympic skiers will be on in a year. or whisler again if you are going in the summer and wanna try mountain biking. vancouver is beautiful but as you live in a city if you wanna "get away" go to victoria it is much smaller and very pretty and offers tours to go surfing or whale watching or just walking around
