Should we let the Turks and Caicos be Canada's next province?
Turks and Caicos have been applying to be Canada's province for about 30 years now...they have been denied 3 times by the Canadian government.
Do you think it's time we let them in? It would be nice to have a province that's hot in the winter. Turks and Caicos already have a large Canadian population. Additional Details We don't even need a passport to go in, but the Americans do.
i think it would be brilliant.. afterall.. the US has hawaii as an island destination.. why couldnt we have thr turks & caicos. i think its an excellent time.. especially with our economy the way it is now

Now that's a very good idea! Canada should have an warm outpost that folks can easily relocate into. Although, we might overcrowd the island as most folks would probably move there given the chance.
TT01
Absolutely...we should really consider this possibility because of the 'baby boomers' right now....they would support them well.

that would be AWESOME!! i don't know much about turks and caicos but it would be so nice to have somewhere warm within the country to escape to.

I remember a number of years ago there was a discussion about whether they should belong to Canada. I am not sure exactly whether the citizens there were/are fully behind it but if they are I certainly find the idea interesting. I think it would be great to have a warm place to go where you do not have to worry about exchange rates or changing currency. As mentioned, the US has Hawaii, no reason why we could not have them as the newest province.
That being said in 2004 there was little support among people contacted down there for joining Canada. Although there had previously been a movement for this it seemed to have run out of steam so Canada had probably "missed the boat" by this time. Unless there has been a significant change in the people's opinion it is probably just an interesting fantasy. If they were to join it would require adjustments in attitudes on both sides although I personally hope that a laid back, relaxed attitude prevails.
Love Canada
We would all love it
But obviously if they became Canadian the government would have to protect it, Put in all the government services, hospitals
would be great for them, but cost a fortune

Let's invite Cuba. {Nothing against Turks and Caicos.}
