Single American moving to Canada?

Thinking about moving to Canada. I have visited their website, and I have seen the requirements and I meet them. Wondering if there is anyone else out there who has done this, and are they happy they did. The USA is going to ****, and I'm tired of all my tax dollars going to support it...

It seems to me that all the answers so far are from people who haven't actually left the USA and moved to Canada...

OK, I'm not from the US but I moved to Canada 20 years ago and never regretted a moment of it. I consider myself to be Canadian now and would never live in the US even though taxes are lower there and I could make a LOT more money there in my profession.

Yes, taxes here are higher but then again, we have lower crime rates, better social services and in case you haven't heard of this (LOL) we have good public health care. In my family we have had a few emergency and non-emergency surgeries, never paid a cent and boy am I glad we live here cuz the medical is excellent!!! Even prescriptions are subsidized by the gov.

People are friendly, the food is great, the air is clean, the culture is multi-cultural instead of a melting pot, which means you are encouraged to retain whatever aspects of your culture you want instead of blending in with everyone else.

Depending on your values, you can pick a region of Canada to suit you. The west of Canada is very environmentally conscious, GreenPeace was founded in Vancouver, Alberta is more right-wing, Toronto is Big-City-Excitting, both coasts are spectacularly beautiful and Montreal is magnifique!

Canada is regularly voted as one of the best places in the world to live in.

Come on up! Any move, anywhere in the world will have its challenges but I'm sure you won't regret it!

Well let me tell you....if you are trying to get out of paying taxes...you had better do some more homework. Ask any Canadian how much tax they pay...I mean every tax that you can think of...go ahead...ask them...you may change your mind...but then maybe not.

Every place has its problems. Canada isn't anxious to have Americans move there and I doubt you can become a citizen without a lot of money and a good immigration attorney in Canada. If you aren't happy with the USA, I admire your willingness to move, but remember the grass is never as green in the other yard as it appears from your own.

eeekkk good luck
USA is still the best but I guess I can't blame you. Let us know how it is!!

The best thing to do is get on a plane, then flush all your papers down the toilet, and when you land, tell them you were tortured and are too scared to tell them anything. That will land you in the refugee system and give you time to learn the language and the ins and outs of the immigration system so you can become a landed immigrant and a citizen.
