So Im travelling to Winnipeg in February....tips?

I've heard that Winnipeg is not really a beautiful city and is VERY cold in winter, but I just have to visit there for a bunch of reasons in February.
Any tips on making the trip fun? special places to go, etc.
Be open, any suggestion will do!

p.s. No offense to people from Winnipeg, I just heard its boring.

Ok, first I have to tell you....The North End is really not that bad. Some people have major issues with it, but that is generally because they don't appreciate the culture and heritage of this part of the city.
When you come to Winnipeg, if you are here for the Festival Du Voyageur, make sure you go! It is an absolutely amazing time!
We now have the longest continual skating surface in Canada and you can walk it too! It is beautiful!
Kildonan Park is great in the winter, tobogganing, skating, skiing, snowshoeing, plain old walking....
(Of course, it is in the North part of the city.....)
Go to the Forks! Beautiful place!
If you like to shop, we have great malls with lots of sales right now. Winter is a good time for sales here, since they really want to bring people out to shop when it is -40.
How about dinner theater? If you enjoy it, we have a great one called Celebrations. Our Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature is one of the best in Canada, check it out on a cold day. Go to the Planetarium, catch a show and then hit touch the universe, it's a blast for all ages.
Don't forget the zoo. Our zoo is amazing and really cheap compared to others in Canada. Not all animals hibernate during the winter and we have the tropical house and the discovery centre both of which are included in the price of the zoo.
There is so much to do in Winnipeg!
Bring warm clothes and a big smile!
Have a blast!
We are NOT a boring city!!!

Winnipeg is a snuggly city in the winter for the reason that people can enjoy staying in their places looking out the window at the dark night and saying things to each other like, "Don't go home tonight, it's too-oo cold." Forget touring outiside places, you'd have to be a special kind of masochist. Check out the concert hall and manitoba theater center. If you're inclined to night life, Winnipeg is like Cincinnati (an unlikely but accurate pairing), a party town with many clubs and after hours dirt boxes. Have fun!

Ahhh Winterpeg. I've lived in Winnipeg for 10 years now. Winnipeg is definately not boring. There is lots to do. It's not always that cold. Sure it was -47 last week, but it can get to just under 0 in winter also. Some good things to do, hmmm, The Forks is a good place to walk around on a nice day, shop and go skating on the world's longest skating path. La Festival du Voyageur is on from Feb 15-24 (http://festivalvoyageur.mb.ca/wp/festival-du-voyageur-fr/). The Winnipeg Art Gallery is good. St. Vital Centre is our best mall I think. The Museum of Man and Nature is good, as well as the Zoo, we have some very interesting animals, even in winter. It can be boring, just make sure to come with an open mind(and a good jacket: -P)

Bring as much warm clothes as possible!!!!! its VERY windy and terribly cold! You could go visit the forks downtown by the rivers or stay inside your hotel and watch t.v. cause it wont get much better than that haha

no offense taken it it boring, but just be sure to avoid the north end... (its scary)!!! the forks is a good place, and the museum and the art gallary are good places too. Polo park or St. vital are the best malls we have. you can go skating on the river! ooo and i think the festival du voyager is in febuary. and there are some good movies on tv on the weekend!Lol.and sunday night cruising!
and the weather like yesturday it was like -1 and today it was like -49 with a blizzard warning..... so be ready for any type of weather.

I'm a Winnipeg...and yes, it can be very boring. We are kind of isolated here. But we have a very cultured city. I've been all over the US and Canada and we have some of the best ethnic restaurants! Try The Gausthaus Gutenberg for EXCELLENT German food or Wasabi for yummy sushi!
Go to The Forks for super cool little shops and for fun touring. Also, Osborne Village and Corydon has super shops as well!
Polo Park and St. Vital Mall are good for shopping.
Try checking out some of our museums and our art gallery.
And Festival Du Voyager is pretty cool if your prepared for the cold!
Hope you enjoy your stay! STAY WARM! ;)
