Are you referring to poor, racial ghettos? If so, there is nothing likein American cities. The worst is probably the aboriginal area of Winnepeg and the smaller one in Edmonton. There is a small black ghetto of a few square blocks in Halifax, and a Jamaican area of larger size which has basically "self-ghettoized" (gang violence) in Toronto. Montreal as yet has no areas one can say are genuine ghettos.

I live in Toronto. The area of Jane St. and Fince Ave. West is the most violent. 53 homicides last year. It also has the largest gang presence of any neighborhood in Canada.

In Vancouver, we have Main & Hastings. It's awful.

I`m in Montreal. We don`t have any ghetto type areas like we see on American TV. We have some lower income areas but they are also kept nice and clean. You should come up and visit some time I`m sure you1ll be surprised at how beautiful our cities are.

Hah, I grew up by Hamilton, Ontario, and I would say James St. South is rather scummy as is Barton Street from downtown to the Stoney Creek border. My "Step-mother" came from this area and believe me, she was/is ghetto material. The business' are run down, and the houses and apartments are sad as well.
