It's the postal system. It contributes in the way that every postal system does -- by delivering letters and packages! |

Just the fact that it circulates and delivers the mail is huge. It keeps the economy going, allows business to receive and distribute supplies, etc. However, there are other aspects. Often postal employees take on special community volunteer projects to raise money and awareness for special causes. One big thing that Canada Post employees do every year is write a personal answer to all the letters to Santa Claus that show up at the post office. |

Canada Post is the main way to send letters or packages from place to place. It is still the cheapest for the amout of money that you spend. It is also relatively quick ... they say that a letter will take a week or less to get somewhere. Usually it is 1-3 days, unless it is going really far.
Canada Post is important for Canada because it is such a big country and it connects us a nation.
As well, in a small town, it is often a place that people see their neighbours and greet them. In a remote place, getting mail can be a source of excitement! |

In my community, Canada Post has NO respect for it's workers. My neighbour delivered mail to rural routes for 53 years! When he died, Canada Post would not allow the other workers in our post office the time to attend his funeral (they did it anyway, so what if the mail was 2 hours later that day!).
They have become far too big. They do not care about the small towns or the loyal employees anymore. |

It creates great career opportunities. The job is incredibly simple, yet the workers make 20+ dollars by the hour, get top of the line benefits and pension. |

Ummm....I don't think I've used Canada Post in like forever..I mean, like my mom gets bills and stuff but she can do all that online and when we went away for like a month and our driveway wasn's shoveled they stopped delivering our mail and I didn't even really notice cause it didn't affect us. But yeah, it's old school and old school is cool. Lol. |
