If you are going to Cape Breton you might take a look at the Castle Moffett in Baddeck ( it is a hotel) and the nearby Fortress of Louisbourg.
In Lunenburg is the Castle on the Hill - It is The Lunenburg Academy and a historical site.
You might also want to check out Fort Anne at Annapolis Royal/Bridgetown
For a castle of a very different sort, search the web for the Picton Castle - it is also in Lunenburg.
Castles and Fortresses in Canada are really very different from what you see in the UK and Europe. They were not households of the royals, rather forts for military protection or stately homes Ă la Canada. |

There is also the Oland Castle - so called by native Haligonians - located on Young Avenue in Halifax. This was at one time the family home of the Oland family, well known brewers and wealthy businesspeople from Nova Scotia. Not really a castle, but it is large, stone and has turrets. |
