Suggestions for Hotels in Toronto?

I'm going to Toronto in a couple of weeks. There are sooo many hotels online. Anyone have a favorite to recommend?

My experience with Toronto hotels is about 10 years old, but my husband and I took the train from Vancouver to Toronto, and by the time we got to Toronto, we were pretty ragged looking. We had booked a room with the Westin hotel in Toronto at an amazing rate, but when we got there, not only did they treat us as though we were street people, but they refused to honour the rate.

We went to the York Hotel and not only did they match the rate that we were originally promised at the Westin, but we got above-and-beyond service.

So, I recommend the Royal York Hotel. It's downtown and very central to transportation, but it's also a beautiful hotel with plenty of history. I'm not sure what the prices are like.

Pantages Hotel is the one I would recommend. It is located on Dundas and Yonge....right in the heart of Toronto, and about 50 meters away from The Eaton Centre.

It is the finest hotel I have ever stayed in, and I've been in some nice hotels around the world. The best bet is to book online to get the best deal. Normally suites go for $400-1000 a night. I booked online and got a room for $200. Which, yes is still expensive, but think about it...you'll be payinig $140 at a hotel near the airport anyways...

For $200 I got a 700-800 sq foot suite. Several seperate rooms in the suite, including a galley...lol, I don't stay in too many hotels that have galleys in them....impecable service and staff. Of course amazing views of the city.

If you've got a lot of money to spend, book yourself a room in one of the Yorkville hotels. It's a very upscale area right in the middle of everything. (This is where the celebs stay when they're in Toronto)

Westin Harbour Castle, Royal York, Toronto Renaissance

I live in Toronto so I don't usually have the need for a hotel here... but here are my suggestions, based on friends reviews.

I've been hearing great things about The Suites at 1 King West. Very new and chic, and the amenities offered in each room are great - fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. Also, the location is pretty central

The SoHo Metropolital Hotel is another great hotel... same idea as the first suggestion, very upscale and chic, and downtown.

If you're not looking to stay downtown, I can recommend The Old Mill Inn and Spa. It's a great place to relax, and unwind... but at the same time, it's footsteps away from the Old Mill subway station, so you can easily go anywhere in Toronto. I go to the spa here and occasionaly dine in the restaurant - beautiful place, and there's always weddings here because of the scenery.

Good luck with whatever you choose and have fun in Toronto :)

The Holiday Inn on Dixie Rd is great right off the 401 and easy to get around the city from there. Allot to choose from for restaurants.
The best place to eat is on the north side of the city in Vaughan, or any "Keg" Restaurant.
I travel to Toronto every month and I would suggest to see Castle Loma while you are there.
