H1N1 was not from someone in Canada.
There are no travel restrictions yet. The only reason you won't get in is if you look ill, and have a fever.
People get hysterical and have to lay blame somewhere. They are just uneducated on the topic.
Here is the website for the world health organization. This is the only reliable source. Not info I "heard" from anybody.

No, if you are allowed to come to canada you will be treated well. Canada is known for being kind, friendly people who do not discriminate |

You are not going to suffer from descrimination! And if you do, get the authorities involved! It's not tolerated here. And besides, we have so many differenty types of people that you will probably just blend right in with us :) Dont worry about it! I dont know anyone personally who's mean with people who are different.. we're normally very open to them.
Seriously, dont be afraid to come. Things will be fine :) |

Canada's farms are expecting to hire tens of thousands of Mexican temporary workers over the next few weeks to help with the preparation of the soil and the planting. Without these workers, many farms may have trouble getting their crops planted and ready for the growing season.
The truth is that everyone in the world is nervous right now. They fear a pandemic of a flu virus that has already killed several of your countrymen.
Are you likely to face discrimination in Canada? No, I seriously doubt that. Unless you tell people you are from Mexico, you are unlikely to have to worry about people treating you differently here.
However, you should naturally expect extra precautions will be taken on any flights coming from Mexico to Canada. Everyone is expected to go through an additional screening process as the health officials here will be looking for people who are showing signs of illness. They may also be checking to see what region of Mexico you are coming from, identifying people from where the flu has been more common.
I know that many people in Canada are delaying or cancelling their trips to Mexico, and people coming back from spring vacations are being extra careful to be checked for the virus.
So I hope you come to Canada and are not afraid to do this. I hope you will find it a nice place to visit. And if you encounter someone who is afraid of you or refuses to serve you, remember that they are not bad people.
The news makes it worse by reporting every single new case as a major headline. We should certainly take this flu seriously, but panic and mass hysteria will cause more problems than this virus. |

I am canadian and i travel for a living. I am now living in Peru.
Canada is one of the most diversified (ethnic) countries in the world. I lived in Montreal for 30 years and i can assure you that in general, canadians are very welcoming.
I know a couple of Mexicans in Montreal, Peruvians, Colombians... and they all have a big smile on their faces! They love it there!
I don't know what are your sources, but let me tell you that you are MUCH safer, a Mexican in Montreal, than a Canadian in Ciudad Juarez! :-) |

I've been to mexico, cancun to be specific and its a beautiful country, but at this time i would advise you not to come, they number of h1n1 cases is shooting up here in Canada. Im not trying to discriminate, but I just want everyone to be healthy. |

a few people came back from Mexico before the h1n1 arrived.
Canada is pretty clean well except for the homeless and a few bad things going on in that area, but if you go to the right places you will be fine and safe. So it's ok to go in our country, but i don't know about the h1n1 even you don't have it or not when passing though security checks. |

This is how I would look at it. People might very well be prejudiced toward you out of fear and they may discriminate. I think it might be a mild inconvenience and I would travel and go run that marathon.
This is, in america, how african american people have felt, especially in the south for hundreds of years, so if they can take that for a lifetime I think you can do it for a short time.
I am white, but I was just thinking of a good analagy.
Good luck with your trip
Break three hours on that marathon......
Hope this helps
