VIA Rail Canada is the main company offering passenger rail transportation in Canada. There are no trains that go from coast to coast but here is the itinerary necessary to do so.

You can go from Halifax, Nova Scotia on the est coast on the "Ocean 14/15" to Montreal, Quebec. From there, you can take a local "Corridor" train to Toronto, Ontario. From there, you can take the "Canadian 1/2" all the way to Vancouver, British-Columbia on the west coast.

There are other trains that go in other directions from main cities and local train company's in Labrador and BC. For all the information, you can visit the VIA Rail Canada website (included in sources) which is very complete.

No train goes all the way across Canada. Newfoundland hasn't seen a running train in decades.

Well of course theres Via Rail. But don't forget not all of Canada is connected. Such as P.E.I. & the Newfoundland part of Newfoundland & Labrador, they are islands.
