Thinking of driving to vancouver Canada from NYC, any info on the place?

I also see good things about vancouver british columbia canada on tv. I heard the been making all the movies there since 20 yrs ago. I heard its a small clean city . I discovered it on TV back in the day when i used to watch the tv show 21 Jump Street, and a few other Sci-fi tv shows that were shot up there.

Please answer the below questions. Thanks very much.
1. What is the temperature there in winter and summer
2. What race people live there mostly ( i heard there are alot of interracial families up there)
3. Hows the crime situation.
4. is it expensive
5 .how are the schools for teaching jobs .
6 Do you like it and would you recommend going there?
is it like what you see on tv

any other info is greatly appreciated

thanks

1. The temperature is fairly moderate usually in the winter and summer. It depends on the year and the type of fronts that come through. I will give you some websites that you can check

http://www.theweathernetwork.com
http://www.accuweather.com
http://www.weatherunderground.com
http://www.ec.gc.ca

2. There is a lot of different type of cultures up here. This is a very multicultural area.

3. The crime situation is I think better than NYC, but you still get your normal metropolitan crimes.

4. It is moderately expensive, but the further that you live out of the downtown core, the less expensive things are. If you plan on living in the downtown core, expect to pay close to 300,000 or more for a apartment.

5. The teaching is very good up here. There are a lot of teachers that are retiring, and there are lots of positions that need to be filled. I can also give you a website that you can check the school boards on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_districts_in_British_Columbia

6. I will give you a couple of sites that you can look at about Vancouver to form your own view about the city.

1. warmer than NYC in winter, a touch cooler than NYC in summer.
2. majority is white, but it's a very multicultural place. Everyone gets along.
3. it's Canada, we really are friendlier. Of course there's crime, but not like most big cities.
4. it's sort of expensive, but being from NYC, you won't suffer any sticker shock, and may even think it's cheaper
5. not sure. (sorry)
6. Mountains and ocean. It really is more beautiful than the films show. You can snowboard and go to beach on the same day. You can smoke weed without being branded a terrorist mafia cartel kingpin. You can walk down dark alleys at night and not die.
To quote Baz Luhrmann, "Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft." NorCal, Oregon, Washington, and BC are virtually identical in climate, terrain appearance, attitude, and political trends (relatively speaking). You've done the New York part, now try out the northwest part. There's a reason so many people come here and never leave.

Look up the city on Wikipedia.

I see you are asking about teaching jobs. You do realize that if you are an American you just cannot move to Canada and look for work. Just like people have to immigrate into the USA, you have to go through a similar process that takes several years to be able to move to Canada to find a job.

if you want to move and experience the Vancouver BC climate and lifestyle, move to Seattle instead. Vancouver and Seattle are almost twin cities in pretty well every regard.
