Vancouver is a great place to live - it's especially good if you enjoy outdoor activities and an active lifestyle, although there are lots of cultural activities going on as well.

Vancouver is a city that offers you a chance to really appreciate the beauty of nature. If you are an outdoors person, you will love it here because you have the mountains and the ocean, and every activity and facility available to enjoy these areas. Not sure at all what the other person's comment is about regarding the food. This is a big city with thousands of restaurants of every type offering excellent choices.
It is expensive to live here. Not sure how it relates to where you are living. If you are in Ireland, then our prices are probably cheaper. Driving can be a nightmare - very congested at certain times of the day. Housing is expensive and buying is not an option for most. You can still rent a studio or 1 bedroom apartment for $650 if you don't plan to live downtown. Hope this helps as its hard to give information without knowing a little bit about you - like if you plan to go to school, or work, or retired, etc.

Great for outdoors activities. Beautiful scenery and mountains.
The downside is the social life. They do not have proper pubs. What they call pubs are very loud drinking establishments with televisions everywhere showing hockey games and loud rock music so you have to shout.
People sit at tables with waitresses serving them and expecting big tips, so there is nobody standing around the bar chatting.
it is a different way of life with big cars, big fridges and lots of room, so worth it for a change from home, but don't expect the same camaraderie.
