You are a disgrace to this country and you are a disgrace to whatever uniform you wear/wore, if in fact, you ever were in the armed forces. You obviously DO care what colour a person's skin is or you would not mention it so many times in such a short period of time.

Your little story about the "white" shoplifter is really hilarious. No one needs to steal in this country. They steal because they are thieves. Period! And clothes are not at the top of any list of 'have to have ' things that anyone might even consider forgiving. Food perhaps is but in this country, there are Food banks. And there are clothes outlets that recycle perfectly acceptable clothes. Every social help imaginable is available so, sorry, there is no good excuse for stealing. And this recession has not been around long enough to have driven anyone to that point of desperation in any case.

Unless you are Aboriginal, (btw Aboriginals here are not white) we are all Immigrants somewhere along the line. Perhaps there should have been a cap on Immigrants before your family arrived.

My Father wore a uniform and fought in a major war against racists and bigots just like you. Perhaps you heard of that war? World War II. Perhaps the Canadian Forces should screen their recruits more carefully, if in fact, you ever were in the armed forces.

Every "white person" in Canada is an immigrant or descended from an immigrant. Those policemen were not "foreigners" they were Canadian citizens.

Are you suggesting that the theft didn't matter because the thief was white skinned? Was it unfair to arrest a white person for theft?

We aren't going to "get along" in an atmosphere of prejudice.

Well, it looks like you didn't learn anything while serving in the military. Canada is and always has been a land of immigrants. Just because the area where our immigrants is now coming from has changed, now people are getting upset? Are we only supposed to allow immigrants from a select list of "white" countries?

I'd also suggest that perhaps one of the reasons your neighbors keep to themselves is that they know you don't approve of their being there. I wouldn't want to associate with someone like that either. If you don't care what colour their skin colour is, as you say, then why are you even making a differentiation in this message. You should be talking about your neighbors, not your "immigrant neighbors" or your "coloured neighbors".

Canadian immigration figures have not changed much in the last 15 years. There are still the same number of immigrants coming to this country that there always have been. They are just coming from countries where they are more visible. And when they come here they are coming either as skilled workers with jobs and qualifications that are of need to Canada or they are coming over under other programs where they end up doing jobs that no Canadian will do. Ever stop to wonder just WHY so many immigrants work in 7/11s or in the service industry of some degree? Not enough Canadians are willing to take those low paying jobs and someone has to do it. Your version of "true Canadians" are the only ones I see on street corners begging for change, not these immigrants you like to slam so much.

Lastly, those cops you saw chasing the thief the other day were NOT foreigners. In order to be hired as a police officer in Canada you must be a Canadian citizen or a legal permanent resident. They meet the same requirements as every other applicant for the job. In fact, many police departments are actively recruiting from the ranks of British Bobbies to fill vacancies here in Canada. Is that OK because they are white even though they will only be permanent residents here in Canada? What about a British Bobbie of a non-white race who would only be a permanent resident here? Is he/she not OK all of a sudden.

Canada has always had a pretty open door policy regarding immigration and immigrants are needed. both for their skills and their input to Canadian society. The US has always spoken the old "give us your tired, your hungry.... line while Canada has always lived it and I for one am proud of our immigrant makeup in this country.

And yes, in case you are wondering, I am a 4th generation Canadian born and raised, white anglo saxon Canadian, have served in the military and continue to serve. I've deployed more times then I care to count to more countries in this world where I have seen what intolerance and bigotry can do and I don't need it here in my own country.

there is nothing wrong with diversity, although it would be beneficial for certain people to assimilate, but at the same time, it should not matter where one comes from, because people cannot choose where they are born or what their skin color is, its usually a team effort to clean up or mess up a place and nobody alone can be blamed, if immigration is open then the population will grow and that could be beneficial for canada, especially when they are educated and can speak the language.

i myself moved to quebec from the usa, i am completely fluent in english conversationable in french and i also speak some spanish because i do not expect people to accomidate to me, im getting a bachelors degree, i am pasty and i contribute to the gdp, so be careful about what you say because not all "immigrants" are who you percieve them to be.

you must aboriginal complaining of immigrants as they would be the only ones who didnt come here from elsewhere and have legitimate beef... oh...I guess even they are immigrants too!. Is your family 2,3 or 4th generation?? NO matter really as they came here to give you a better life... why should the door have swung shut behind them?
My biggest beef on immigration is the rosy picture of things prospects get before coming here. Doctorates end up driving cab and the gal at the checkout may have several degrees.
As far as "foreign cops" arresting people... thats funny. I am pretty sure you need to be a Canadian citizen or perm resident to be a cop here!!

and guess what colour all the scuzz bags they are arresting in vancouver for the gang violence are.... white.

I think enough people have commented on your ignorance, so I'd like to address one paragraph in particular.

Firstly, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in Canada is B.C.
But I guess that's wrong, they have too many immigrants for cities like Vancouver to be clean and beautiful.

In addition, I think you might want to re-evaluate London. As a Londoner myself, you must be very fortunate to think of London as dirty and run-down. While you are correct, London does have many immigrants, I for one am proud how our city can help over a thousand refugees a year find a better place to live, many of the under 16.

If this is your attitude, I'm not surprised none of your neighbours want to come for coffee.

Not really. People have always emigrated to Canada. How did your family get there? Judging by your stated skin color your family didn't originate in N. America.

As for your lovely "example": How is the white thief being treated unfairly? He committed a crime. I think your problem is at heart racism. As someone said, clothing is available as is food if needed. Every Western country has a social safety net; programs to assist those in real need. Stealing from a store is obviously a crime to get cash for something other than clothing oneself.

I am from an immigrant family that has members in Canada and the US. Both countries have been built up by immigration - there is no need for the typical knee-jerk slam against the US for no reason here. It wasn't brought up before you needed to.

Unfortunately, it's that 20% that pays for a lot of your social benefits - ie. housing, food, etc. assistance that many people (not just white) are collecting from the government.

Also, "true born Canadians have such a crisis with no jobs"...yes, I see most of the panhandlers and people waiting for handout are non-immigrant...but that doesn't mean it's because immigrants stole their jobs. I am sure you've heard about non-immigrants complaining about how this job is crap, that job is crap and how they need to be paid more. Working at McDonald's at age 40...a lot of non-immigrants wouldn't take that job because they are "too good for it", someone still has to make that burger, so here comes the immigrant who would take on any job just to make sure there's a paycheque coming in at the end of the month.

Let me guess, you're currently jobless and having problems making ends meet?

Like all racists you ask questions like why do my immigrant neighbors not become my friends. I would imagine it must be a lot of fun for a new immigrant to feel the hatred coming from you and then just ask hey lets have a coffee.

The most blatant lie and piece of racism is that you say you don't care about the color of their skin when in fact you have identified only visible minorities as your target group being lazy and stupid etc.

But if our Country was over run by white Northern European immigrants who were lazy and uneducated you would more than likely accept that.

I became a PR yesterday. The immigration officer explained it the best I can..you have an aging country, people die a lot per year, and to replace that number of people dying you need either a) immigrants, or b) a large birth population. If you *DID NOT* allow immigrants in, the economy and country would drop. You need those people in the country to spend money, boost the economy, pay taxes, etc. WIthout them, Canada would be as worse as the US economy or other countries.

You hit the nail on the head! We have lost our identity! When Peter Mansbridge asked "the man on the street" ; "What is it to be a Canadian" People could not give an answer. We have opened our country to political correctness, and as a result we are everything to everybody, but not to ourselves. There is a cost to being open to all foreigners trying to better their family lives, but starting in the 1980's when we gave into political correctness, and abandoned the melting pot philosophy, we gave away what has made Canada such a great country to migrate to. For all the people who found this question to be offensive, you have bought into the political correctness agenda and have sold out to what made this country what it used to be.

If we want no immigrants then every single one of us who is not aboriginal, metis or inuit must leave. We are the ones who stole their land! True born Canadians. We have no choice but to let lots of immigrants in. The birth rates is too low to sustain the population without doing something drastic like banning abortion and birth control.

Yes there are far too many immigrants here. I am for immigration but only in numbers that can be assimilated. Also we are getting far too many of the wrong immigrants. Why are we accepting people that do not assimilate? That do not even want to learn English or French? Why are we picking people from India, Pakistan, Jamaica, Ceylon instead of Britain, Poland and Germany? We should take the best immigrants we can. Also stop illegals from getting into Canada while pretending to be "refugees".

After a quick scan of the responses what did you expect? Canadians have been told for years that: diversity is good, multi cultureism is good, bilingualism is good, immigration is good. With this sort of brainwashing going on it is no wonder the people spout this as a matter of being. HOWEVER if they know you and you ask this question without anyone else around they will tell you the truth, which is most likely they agree with you.

In the spirit of full disclosure I am an immigrant (english speaking, white, male), I too tend to agree with you. What this country needs to do is stop immigration until we can get a good immigration policy in place. One that is fair and benefits the country as a whole. But that will never happen, so get used to it dude. Like the Borg say, "resistance is futile you will be assimilated!"
