Toronto! and its suburbs.

:S I live in toronto.. it is nice - but Muskoka is nicer.
Vancover has mountains for a view. That is hard to beat.
I would say Toronto but I may be biased.

If Vancouver wasn't such a hotbed for earthquakes, I'd totally move there. But because it is, I'm moving to Toronto, which has the #1 best children's hospital and the #1 best cancer hospital in all of Canada (which is obviously important to me, being a nurse). They also hold an annual Vegetarian Food Festival which is the largest in North America (which I think is pretty awesome). My only concern, which I've heard from a few people who live in Toronto, is that it's very polluted, which I hope isn't the case.

I live in toronto- it's amazing, and everyone is so nice and helpful- I love going downtown whenever, and seeing the CN tower, eating out at "Gretzky's". Although I havenever been to Vancouver- I can say that Toronto is better- I love Toronto to death!

I'm on the Toronto side of this 'friendly' rivalry.
If you have the right qualifications, jobs are not hard to find in Toronto (and the surrounding GTA, if someone is willing to commute)

Other places in the world are really nice to visit and have a chance to get away from Toronto, but man / ma'm, I am always glad to get back home to Toronto. For you, both cities would be new to you, and you can adjust and live well in both places, but a question you should ask yourself, in the winters do you want to be rained on in cool or cold temperatures almost all of the wintertime (Vancouver);
or could you tolerate to see some snow sometimes, with a lot of other times of sunshine too, during the winters. Snow can be really pretty sometimes, and you won't get as wet. Personally I like rain -- in the summer!!!, but not all winter long. I like to see winter-wonderland sometimes, so Toronto is my preference. Also, politics and social issues in Ontario are more stable and less wacky compared to BC. Also, Ontario is not the prairies, Ontario does have downhill skiing / snow boarding that's pretty good too, while BC has avalanches and mud-slides, Ontario has skiing thats relatively safer, and actually quite fine ! just 1 hour drive from the city.

Its kind of a question that cant be answered objectively. Its like asking LA or NYC? Both cities have there plus and minus. If you want to live in a city like New York, than Toronto is where its at. If you like that laid back west coast vibe, then Vancouver is beautiful. IMHO I chose Toronto, there is alot more going on here, almost double the population so there will always be something for everyone. I happen to be a theatre junkie so Toronto is the best place in Canada to be for me, but if you like the open ocean hey Vancouver is sooooo nice. Im not huge on Toronto's suburbs but the downtown core is so vibrant and if you look around and see all the towers and construction that are going on here, Toronto is going to be even more beautiful in about 5 years. Im in love with T.O and I think the attitude towards this city is changing. I just wish they would clean up Lake Ontario, that would make Toronto that much better and truly a world class city. I dont think one is better than the other its just what type of person you are and what your preferences happen to be. If you like pro sports, Toronto is pretty sweet especially with the inevitability of an NFL team. If you like the mountains and skiing and snowboarding, than Vancouver is hard to beat.

Sparmoni's answer is a little shaky. Vancouver is hardly a 'hotbed' for earthquakes!! A little shaker every few years is no big deal. Vancouver's children's hospital is every bit as good as Toronto's (my kids were in both many years ago - my son was admited to TCH wher he received wonderful treatment) After we moved to Vancouver he went to VCH for follow-on and the treatment was once again wonderful. Cancer treatment? I don't know but I read in the paper that the survival rates for cancer patients in British Columbia are the highest in Canada.

I have lived and worked in both cities and enjoyed them both. Vancouver's climate is a little easier to take although the rainy winters can get some people down as much as snow and cold in Toronto during the winter. Both cities have lots to offer. If I had to chose though, I'd pick Vancouver.

Both have their charms. I've lived in both. Vancouver is good for climate and nature, Toronto is more of a cosmopolitan city, like a safer cleaner NYC.
Vancouver is a lot worse for crime (Hastings Street is as bad as some of the most run down areas in the U.S.). Toronto, on the other hand, is a relatively safe city (Macleans Magazine ranked it quite a bit safer than Vancouver).
