Montreal is a beautiful city and it is more compact and has a good rail network. It is unique to be the only kind of french/english city in this world, so it'll be fun living there if you like the cultural amalgamation.
Toronto is very big and your knowledge of French will probably not be too important. It is just like any other North American city, so I do not really find anything unique about it. Its too spread out and car dependent.
For your job, its better to have a unique perspective, so live in Montreal:)

A couple of months is over optimistic, unless you have sent in your application to immigrate a year ago. There is a long queue of applications.

You might want to take a look at Canada before you go to the trouble and expense of applications.

Here are the requirements for immigration:

Since both if you have an artistic background I would say go to Montreal...theres too many people trying for the same thing in Toronto...but I'm not sure how hard it'll be to find a job...you are better off going to ALberta, Calgary or Edmonton are booming now...so I'm sure you can find jobs there too.

Assuming you both have your papers in order and valid work permits, unless you speak French, I'd recommend Toronto.

Why do you want to move somewhere you've never been? You don't think you should visit first? There are many, many, many aspects that might not appeal to you.

No idea where you're from, but our winters aren't exactly warm and delightful.

Edited to add: Ok, you both speak English and French, that's good. As for job prospects, unless you have jobs lined up, good luck, the graphic designer market is saturated here.

I'd say Montreal.

I think you need to first see if you can even qualify to immigrate here before you start daydreaming about which city to live in. Immigrating to Canada is very difficult.

Wanting to move to Canada isn't enough to be able to actually move here. You have to apply to immigrate here, assuming you even qualify to immigrate. You cannot just show up at the border, announce your arrival and expect to stay.

You should take a good and serious look through http://www.cic.gc.ca and read the whole site VERY CAREFULLY.

We already have close to 1 million applications ahead of yours. As we only accept about 250,000 new immigrants each year, I think you can see that processing times are long.
