Toronto vs. Montreal. Where is it better to spend my college years?

I am accepted to both University of Toronto and McGill and so far had no luck in choosing the best place to spend the next 4 years of my life. They are both great universities and picking one is much harder than I thought.
Anyway, I am making a list of the pros and cons of each university, and now came to the cities. I know Montreal wins when it comes to nightlife, events and festivals, and according to some, even transportation. I do not speak any French, so will that be a problem? What about the community, are they as friendly as those in Toronto?
I've visited Toronto, but not Montreal, and I liked it. However I won't be able to see Montreal before the deadline for registration so your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

McGill, hands down.

McGill University is considered the "Harvard of Canada". Montreal has a great nightlife, party scene, it's a great city to study and party. You don't need to speak French to live in Montreal, (especially Downtown, NDG, West Island), almost everyone in Montreal is bilingual and can communicate in either English or French. People are friendly too. It has also a reliable transportation system with its subway and bus system. Toronto is more of a business city since it is the financial capital of Canada as oppose to Montreal, which is more of a college/university city. Toronto also offer more opportunities in terms of career advancement.
Bottom line is: Montreal is where you would want to study and experience college/university life. Toronto is where you would like to be to make money once you get your degree.

I'd go to McGill. It's the best university in Canada. U of T comes 2nd to it though.

U of T is a huge commuter school - the student life isn't as strong as McGill's. As well U of T has a really bad reputation of being a really hard school. Most classes have an average within the 60's. Also the whole theory where they make first year hell so a large percentage will drop out or get kicked out and U of T can collect their tuition. If you want to go to grad school, you probably should go to McGill where it might be easier to get high marks.

And you don't need to know french to survive in McGill. Downtown Montreal is very touristy, and everyone there knows English. I go to Montreal every year and I can't speak French to save my life, but I'm fine. You might run into some language barriers if you go into the more suburban, residential areas of Montreal? But I don't see why you would be going there in the first place. McGill has a very large international student population - I think 20%. I'm sure most of them don't know French.

You will quickly learn french here, and you will get by fine with only english. McGill is an excellent school. I would choose Montreal- You will learn an extra language without even trying.

I also got accepted to both. For me, living as a student was all about living on a tight budget. Montreal is much cheaper to live than Toronto. That was the deciding factor, and I don't regret it one bit. I had a great time and got a degree without a debt.
But anyway, they are both great schools and great cities. Very different, but you will have a good education at either.

visit Montreal. It is a great city. If you can muddle your way through without ot much of a problem go to college there. If French is going to be a big problem you might be better off in Toronto.
McGill is an excellent university.

Montréal better if you're open to both cultures. If you're strictly Anglo, then TO, by all means.
