OMG - I love visiting Toronto - take me with you, LOL!
I remember my first trip several years ago - same as you, visiting a friend at the end of June, beginning of July - I couldn't believe it was just about as hot there as here in the south. Even got sunburned that trip, ack...

Anyway, the fall and spring temps there are really nice. Little warm in the day, nice and cool at night. (In my opinion, of course - some find it too cold around November.)
I've only brought jackets if I visit December - March... but again, that's just me, I prefer the cooler temps.

But here's a couple of articles for ya to get a better idea for yourself:
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/toronto/0034020006.html
http://www.ehow.com/how_4490_time-trip-toronto.html

And previous forecast records (put in the dates of your trip):
http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/CYTZ/1972/1/1/PlannerHistory.html?PlannerFrontPage=1

Averages by month:
http://weather.yahoo.com/climo/CAXX0504_f.html

Of course, much better to check the extended forecast the week that you plan to leave to have a more precise answer. Good luck... and have fun!

Which city are you travelling to ?
Vancouver ..normally around 10-15 'C.
Toronto. It depends last year was warm.5 - 10'C. January -20' C.
Calgary and Edmonton .....-10 to -20 'C
Regina, Saskatoon .....-15 to -20 'C
Winnipeg, Manitoba .....-25 to -30 'C.
Ottawa, Montreal ......0 to -10 'C.
Halifax, Nova Scotia ....-10 to -15 'C

These temperatures are only estimate. Normally October is the end of fall season so it is rather still warm. November is close to beginning of winter and it should be close to the freezing mark
( 0'C)
The coldest temperatures are in January and February....bring your heavy jacket , gloves, nylon cap-hat and scarf with you if you plan to travel at these months !

Cheers

On average you will probably be wearing pants and a t-shirt or sweater. You don't need to bring a jacket♥
