Traveling to CANADA?

I am traveling to canada in May and my certified birth certificate does not have a raised stamp on it. Will this do to get in and out of Canada? Any help will be extremely helpful. To be specific, I am taking a bus trip to casino Windsor.

As long as it is an origianl and not a copy you will be ok. I have traveled many times from the USA to Canada and back- and also from the USA to Mexico and back and my birth certificate does not have a raised seal (even though it is an original).

As long as you have a original birth certificate and your driver's license you will be ok.

HOWEVER, with that said, starting January 1, 2008 YOU WILL NEED A PASSPORT.

Here is the information from the USA Government:

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.

This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement.

I have never had them feel it to make sure the stamp was raised. Just relax and have that as well as your driver's liscense, etc on you, too.

My suggestion is to have a passport with you. Having a passport is better to show proof. Also you're birth certificate may not be valid, but having a passort is ideal & better if you're going through Canadian or American Customs.

for sure .i live in buffalo and cross over to canada couple times a week , all they ask for is your drivers lic.

You will be fine, especially for that sort of excursion.

It doesn't matter about a raised stamp on a birth certificate, I have had no problems before, just ensure that you have additional identification as well.
