There are pro's and con's to both cities. I grew up in Ontario and have been living here in BC since 2001.
Toronto's Pro's:
1) They have REAL highways with drivers who know how to drive!
2) They have many diverse multicultural groups.
3) They have all four seasons.
4) They have more of a wide range of products available and are cheaper too.
5) They have a baseball team, a basketball team, and a hockey team.
6) They have a better nightlife and more exciting things to do.
7) They celebrate Canada day and New Year's Eve!!
Toronto's Con's
1) They no longer have blue skies---it's more of a pinkish hue
2) It's getting smoggier each year.
3) It's hot as hell in the summertime and cold as sin in the winter.
4) They can't swim in Lake Ontario.
5) It's too much of an urban jungle.
Vancouver's Pro's
1) We're right by the ocean with an incredible view of the mountains. Still takes my breath away!
2) We can indulge in many outdoor sports year-round.
3) It's a slower pace of life than Toronto.
4) It has cleaner air (though that's starting to change)
Vancouver's Con's
1) It rains so much. It's hard getting used to it! Even after 6 years!
2) Pedestrians walk out in the middle of the bloody road and expect traffic in each direction to stop for them!
3) They have some inner jealousy for those who come from Ontario (we've never had a problem with someone from BC in ON) It's on the news, radio, advertising...halarious.
4) People in the Lower Mainland panic when it's there's a centimeter of snow on the roads.
5) Nightlife really needs to improve.
6) BC Translink needs to extend the bus times and routes.
I'm a Toronto gal by heart, but I enjoy living out here in BC. It's been quite an experience. |

Vancouver has 'Feng Shui' of a mountain at its back and an ocean in front. So imports industrious Chinese free-thinking exiles.
Who needs correct spelling, when we have a port and a stock exchange?
I love both cities, and hope to die in one. |

I LOVE Vancouver. I was only in Toronto once as a kid, so I don't qualify well to answer. But if Canada would let me, I'd move to Vancouver and just live there. I love the place. |

I hate Toronto, I lived there during the city strike, there was garbage everywhere, and gangs targeted me and tried to steal all my stuff. Vancouver is alright, food is really cheap, esp if you live in the chinese areas. It's getting harder to find cheap housing there. The transit system is very good. |

Well, since I live in Toronto and I've never been out to Vancouver (I've only been to Vancouver International Airport) I think maybe Toronto because usually where there is more people, there is more community care. If you are gonna live in Toronto, I say preferably downtown cause the people there are friendlier. Don't reside in Scarborough where gang violence is a day-to-day factor! |
