Victoria BC?

I've always wanted to visit Victoria.
When would be a good time of year to go, and what are some interesting things to see/do?

I've lived here my whole life, and my favourite season is the spring (late spring-less rain)...it's warm, and not so crowded with tourists yet...however, I also really enjoy the start of the fall because it's probably the warmest part of the year (late August into September)...
As for things to do....there are TONS of things to do...

The temperature here is very mild all year round. We rarely get snow, and if it does snow, it usually melts on contact with the ground.
We are called the flower city for a reason! While the rest of the country is still covered in snow, our spring flowers are starting to bloom!!!

There are plenty of ways to get around Victoria.
Public transit ($2.25 or $3.00 for longer trips).
Taxi .
Kabuki Cab (person takes you by bicylce cab thingy ($1/min)
Tally Ho (horse drawn carriage)...pricey
Tour Bus (some are double decker buses)

Make sure that you check out and take a pic of the Legislative Buildings in the evening!! (Won't tell you why, lol...it's a surprise!!!). They give tours of the building as well.

If you like Castles and history, check out the Craigdarroch Castle...(not an amazing castle like you'd find in England, but it's neat)....

The Inner Harbour area is a nice place to hang out -especially in the summer (shopping, boats, perhaps street entertainment, restaurants)

The Royal BC Museum is awesome, they have a Titanic Exhibition on right now I think!! Plan to spend quite a few hours in here

The Royal London Wax Museum is my favourite tourist attraction here...

The Butchart Gardens are great, but it's best to check it out in the summer time

Walk through the James Bay neighbourhood, checking out the heritage houses ect (about 20-30 min walk to downtown). If you would like a walk, along Dallas Road is awesome as there is the view of the Pacific Ocean, with a backsplash of the Olympic Mnts!!....If you continue along Dallas Road, up the slight hill, until you reach Fisherman's Wharf youcould go for a coffee...or Barb's Place Fish and Chips...but the best part, is checking out all of the funky houseboats!! You could then take the public bus right downtown from there.

Send me a private message on here if you'd like more info ect
Have fun!!

ps-go for some local beer at Swans Pub!!
Or take the cute little Inner Harbour Ferry from the Inner Harbour over to Spinnakers Restaurant for some of their local beers!!

I went last summer in July--stunning. I did a bus tour of the area and went to the Botanical Gardens--can't recall the name, however there's only one--I think. It's lovely. I also visited the Museum--can't recall the name--sorry. I was encouraged to do tea, however did not have time. I only stayed a day. It appears to be a relatively small island. Enjoy..

I just went there last week. It is a reallynice place and the climate means you can go any time of year but a lot of things like shops and stalls were closing down last week. I am told it is very busy in July and August so the best time would be April, May and June and September. It rains a lot during winter but is not very cold. I enjoyed the Legislative buildings, which you can take a free tour in. There are also several museums (depending on your interests). You can also easily go whale watching or to lots of gardens the main botanical garden is called Butchart gardens and is about 20 km outside downtown Victoria. It is best to stay near the Inner harbour as this is where most things are happening.

stop canada.
