Eric S

Was it hot and sweaty in Ottawa last weekend?

I visited Ottawa, Ontario last in January when it was -25 celsius and I hear last weekend it got well over 30 celsius with humidity.

If I were to visit Ottawa last weekend dressed in 4 layers of sweatpants and a heavy NorthFace Jacket, ear mits, and 3 layers of mittens, and boots, for last weekend

Would I have felt hot? How would it feel?

Oh gosh, you would have looked like just another uninformed tourist. But no problem, you could have just taken the
clothes off. the layers, anyway. Usually It's a good idea to check the temp. of where you're going.
Come April/May - we usually hit the 60's and 70's.. It can be sunny or rainy, depending..
In June, however, our summer has started. Last weekend we had a heat wave.. Not uncommon for this time. Everyone was out in sundresses, shorts, sandals.. etc.
The Ottawa Region, being in a valley - Is very prone to humidity. So always check the Actual temp. - which was 32 C - with the "Feels like" temp. Combined with the humidity, it went to about 104 Fahrenheit here.

Summer's here! And won't be leaving until September. Of course, always pack a jacket, pants, etc. for the odd day, and cool nights, if it's not humid. But we're warmer than Minnesota, I can assure you! :)

You would've felt extremely hot. Hot and sweaty. The humidity alone would've made you sweat, no need for the sun.
The Ottawa valley usually suffers from hot, humid weather in the summer months. T's, Shorts, and sandles are the clothing of choice...

All of our igloo's melted last weekend, it must be summer! :)

lol I guess you wouldn`t know if your face turned red because you`re overdressed or because you`re embarassed to be the only one overdressed.

considering I was out in shorts and one of those fancy coolmax shirts and still sweating like crazy. I'd say that heat stroke would have set in very quickly

It was 40 degrees C with the humidity.

Also, -25 in the winter isn't too bad, it's the winters we've gone down to -40 where it's brutal.

blagh
Oh my, last weekend was boiling. It was about 30 C with a lot of humidity. If you showed up like that you probably would have fainted.

knh959
If you wore the clothes you described you'd probably still be in hospital suffering from heat stroke.
