Considering the large majority of hogs born in Canada are later shipped to the States after weaning, they're the same pigs. Canadian bacon is just a different cut of meat. It's cut from the same part you would a pork chop, where as regular bacon is cut from the belly. |

haha.
The stuff you guys call "Canadian Bacon" we call "Back Bacon". It's not as popular up here as regular bacon (the same stuff you guys call "bacon", we also call "bacon").
I have NO IDEA, why it's called "Canadian Bacon" in the States. When I went down there, I saw that at an Ihop and ordered it because I was curious as to what it exactly was... since I'm Canadian and all I wanted to know what bacon was named after us. When i found out it was Back Bacon I was kind of disappointed.... the stuff is basically Ham, I guess I was hoping foreigners would name a better food after us. I guess we still have Poutine though lol. |

What Americans call Canadian Bacon is called "Back Bacon" in Canada and it does not sell very well in Canada. Most bacon sold in Canada is the same as US bacon. |

The only HOGS they have in Canada, wear tee shirts and walking shorts with white socks and black shoes and have cameras hanging from their big, fat necks. They are easy to spot because 2 of them, waddling down a sidewalk look like a couple of baby elephants on their way to salute the AmeriKan flag |
