We're migrating on April 2008 for North Vancouver. What is the appropriate clothings during that season?

Dress in layers - shirts, sweaters, pants, shorts and most importantly a rain jacket. When you dress in layers, you can easily take layers off it you get warm.. or put them on if you get cold.

April can be rainy and cool or sunny and warm. It's really a mixed bag in terms of weather. But nomatter - the north shore (including North Vancouver and West Vancouver) receive more rainfall than the city of Vancouver or much of the surrounding areas because they are right up against the mountains.

It doesn't snow in vancouver atleast when it does it just a little coating and it will melt away in a day.

Don't dress to lightly it might rain but its not that cold.

Hi Well, we get Spring weather just like the States do. so, I guess you could wear maybe, a light Spring/Fall jacket, Jeans/Pants, Long sleeve shirts, sometimes short sleeves, depends if weather gets warmer on certain days. B.C. is the Warmest Province during the Winter season, but Spring starts in April. But the way the weather has been changing for the whole World lately, we may still have a bit of Winter in April, but it won't be that cold.

Being close to the coast here our weather is generally, but not always, mild. The climate area is classified as temperate rain forest so that may give you a clue. The temperature in April can vary but during the day it can be anywhere from 12 to 22 C or even warmer (sometimes cooler, have seen it snow in early April). There is often a bit (for us that is) of rain so prepare for that. Not sure where you are coming from or what you consider warm. That being said we have had both cooler and warmer days during April, I have worn heavier jackets on some occasions and shorts on others. Best bet, bring clothing that you can layer, i.e. a light water resistant jacket to be worn over a sweater that can be worn over a shirt. If you want to get really prepared, you can have a long-sleeved casual shirt and, underneath, a T-Shirt. You can always add or subtract one or more as the weather permits. The weather can be changeable at the best of times, I have seen days with not a cloud in the sky only to have it windy and raining within an hour and, of course, I have also seen the reverse. Remeber too that, if you paln on clothes shopping when you get here, stores are often selling two or three months in advance so you will find a lot of summer fashions coming out. Of course that means the current season's fashions/wear are being cleared out so you may find some bargains as well.

Oh yes, umbrellas can be useful but you can always get them here.

You don't say where you are moving from? Where I live in Ontario I during the winter wear a heavy winter coat but when I travel to Van on business in the winter/early spring I only take a light jacket and sweater because to me it feels very mild.

It would be best for most people to bring long pants and sweaters. BTW it doens't rain there all the time it just feels like it does.
