if you are planning to move in 2 months i assume you have filed and been granted the right to immigrate here? it can be a long process |

You do know Canada is a different country and you cannot move there without qualifying as an immigrant?
Look up "TN Visa". If you qualify under one of those professions, you can look for an employer in Canada.
Otherwise it can take several years.
Consider Bellingham WA. only 20 miles from the Canadian border.
A nice sane small city with a nice climate and in your price range. |

Maritime provinces I think was the best suggestion yet, New Brunswick is beautiful and yet you have major urban cities just hours away such as Montreal ( take in the Festivals Stay at Les Bons Matins) Toronto ( shopping..it is so on top) Ottawa..quiet but beautiful, and of course Quebec..they have nice scenery, romance, and apparently one of the best winter festivals anywhere in Canada, You also have tons of parks to choose from that are breathtaking and relaxing for camping and fishing. Yeah house prices are cheap ut there and if you love seafood well you are definitely on the right island good luck. To get a rough idea of housing costs check out mls.ca, remax.ca |

Move to New Brunswick, a town called Moncton. Plenty of three bedroom homes and under 200k. You can travel to three different provinces in 45 minutes, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. There is a real employee shortage here, need more workers. The people are so friendly, rent is affordable, and jobs are overabundant. Go look up the job bank at www.gc.ca. you won't be disappointed. |

You can find a home around Vancouver in that price range. The city has plenty of suburbs and the public transit is pretty good, if that's a concern. |

Hate to tell you but we are probably just as crazy up here. But at least not everyone wants to kill us...yet.
;-)
If you are looking for a home up here to buy, my suggestion is to check the Realtor.ca website (they used to be called www.mls.ca) which should help give you an idea of the cost of housing for various cities, and what you can afford.
If you are coming from USA, you would probably be most comfortable in a suburb of Toronto. If you are from the midwest, perhaps Calgary or Edmonton would be more suited to you.
A lot depends on whether you plan to be retired residents or actually working up here. To immigrate here as skilled workers, just go to the CIC website and see if you qualify.
You will probably need to arrange for permanent residence here and a work visa.
And you can probably find a pretty good place for 600K here, although Alberta real estate is sky-high right now.
The maritimes are nice too, and very affordable. New Brunswick and PEI both have large properties you can buy for under $200K. I imagine Nova Scotia would have some too.
My suggestion would be someplace like Markham or Whitby, in Ontario. But again, everything depends on how "suburban" you want to be, and what type of job you may be looking for. |

west coast (Vancouver region) is nice with mountains and ocean and milder climate but expensive. You can pick up 3-4 bedroom houses in the fraser valley 40 minutes outside Vancouver downtown for $600K.
Toronto area is nice as well and again your house would have to be in the greater torornto area and not the city. Like Newmarket, Richmond Hill areas The eastern cities like Halifax and St John will give you biggest house bang for your buck and you could probably afford something "in the city" 3 bdrm sf in the east coast with $600K/

I don't think you can get a 3bed/3bath in Vancouver for 600K unless you go outside of Vancouver, as real estate in Vancouver is obscenely expensive.
I'm a big promoter of Toronto - If you go to the nice areas of North York you could find a house for 600k
As well Richmond Hill/Vaughan/Thornhill/Markham are suburbs of Toronto and they all are developing so it's nice new houses for 500-600k
I personally find the suburbs to have a small-town feel, but just a short drive to downtown and the real Toronto. |
