Don't go to Canada. I lived in Edmonton, AB, Toronto, ON, etc for a very long time and I can vouch for you that most of the caucasians living there are racists.
Toronto is probably the best place to live for an Indian. Vancouver would be # 2 choice. Do not go to Calgary. Dont know about Grover. |

Well, I suggest you can move to Vancouver or Toronto. Their is a large Asian Indian Community especially in Toronto & Vancouver. You will have no problems making friends, finding jobs, and other sorts thing that I can't think off.
But Vancouver & Toronto is a city where taxes & living expenses are very expensive. Ottawa and Calgary is also booming with Asian Indian People. |

Edmonton! It's large enough to have everything you'd need incl. a large Indian community, but not so large as to be cold and facelss. It's a great place to live!! |

None of the above!
Head for Edmonton which is just 300 miles north of Calgary. It is a very nice friendly City and multicultural.
There is lots of work and the people are friendlier than down south.
I know, I came with husband and my young children in 1967 and have never regretted that move. Canada and Edmonton have been very good to us and to the Indian community in general.

Vancouver without a doubt.

Toronto and Vancouver are too big - too much crime.. and although not like the USA there is racism..
Calgary would be a better choice OR a smaller town.. I live in the country - 1 hour South of Edmonton and the lifestyle in the country is the best.
lots of jobs in Alberta
pick a smaller city though if you want to be happy |

That depends on weather you just want to mix with your own people or to find out how other Canadians live.
It also depends on what your interests are.
It might be better to move to a smaller community. |

don't listen to the above posters, i am an immigrant to canada and nobody has ever been "racist" towards me... people here are generally interested in other people's cultures.
i have never been to calgary or grover but between toronto and vancouver, i would say you should go to toronto, which has a higher indian population - i like vancouver better, and vancouver is extremely multicultured but its mostly asians... lots of hong kong/tokyo style malls... when i was in vancouver i was in chinatown actually and the mayor of the city was being pushed along in his wheelchair by his wife and chatting with all the chinese people -IN CHINESE! he actually took the time to learn chinese so that he could communicate with the people of his city... i thought it was amazing, he was such a nice guy to talk to |

Canada is on the surface a very open and welcoming society. Don't scratch too deep, you will be surprised! If you are able to emigrate from India, I suppose you have a good professional and social background there already and enough money to undertake this huge change in your life. Why would you move from India when it is becoming with China the next super-power? There are so many opportunities there to be seized. In Canada, so many immigrants with diplomas from reputable universities in law or medicine or IT can only find menial jobs as janitors or taxi drivers. |
