Weather in in Vancouver? |
I've never been to Canada but I'm going as an exchange student for summer classes and staying there till January, so my question is, will I need special clothes for the winter? or will normal jeans and just a thick jacket will do the trick? |

"Hi"......Actually you'll be fine with what you have ...as that's what we wear here in this milder climate.!
Summer's are hot here and the winter months cool off and we get rain, with the occasional snow unlike the rest of Canada.
After spending the summer here you'll be acclimatized to our weather anyway and should you need extra clothing ( gloves etc.) then simply purchase it here which makes sense.
Glad to help and a "Welcome to Vancouver "! *S* (Michael C...) |

Jeans and jacket will work for most of winter, but it'll be best if you have a waterproof jacket with a hood. Some people wear waterproof boots. Others, like me, just wear runners almost all winter and have two pairs so one can dry out in between. There will probably be some days when you'll want colder weather clothing. Best thing is to have jacket big enough to get a sweater or fleece under, and maybe add gloves and scarf for really cold days. If you don't already have that stuff, buy it in the fall while you're here. |

You may need special shoes for snowy conditions. In North Vancouver, it is colder as it is on a higher ground. You may need something to keep your face and neck warm too. |

normal jeans and a thick jacket will do.
but maybe a bit more just in case.
this year, we had a lot of snow and it was colder then any other years!
the weather in vancouver is mostly rainy, it's known for that, but it's not too cold or hot. |

for winter, you will need VERY warm pants, or just wear two. and a VERY warm jacket, with a bunch o layers under that. and warm boots and gloves and the works. the lowest it's ever been in vancouver is -17 C. yeah. have fun!!! |
