What 2 provinces will seperate from canada in the next 20 years? ?

It's strange. So many communities are trying to join up so they can save on costs and reduce duplication of services. Companies are merging and become bigger and more diversified to protect against one product line dragging down their profits. Many countries in Europe agreed to share a common currency (Euro).

And yet we constantly have these cases where people think it would be better to go it alone than to be protected in a group.

I don't think any Canadian province will separate in the next twenty years, although I would be willing to bet that two provinces may have referendums in the next two decades if it keeps going the way we are.

Newfoundland is not happy with the federal government over their offshore natural resources. Harper broke his promise and included the profits from oil & gas into the calculations for federal tax money distributions, so they are not happy and could be looking at whether it is better to go it alone in a few years.

Quebec is due for another referendum. The PQ came into power in the early 70's. The first referendum was 1980, second was 1995. Do the math and your looking at a referendum after 2010 (if the separation wave comes around every 10-20 years) There have already been a few grumblings from younger people upset with the system.

The western provinces seem to be feeling left out and taken advantage of, and there is a smaller separatist movement out there which could grow over time if they see more housing issues, higher taxes, and depletion of natural resources.

But I doubt we will see a divided country in my lifetime. At least I hope so.

It's depressing how many of the 'provinces' named aren't provinces.

Anyway, probably none. Despite the talk about Quebec, we've stayed united since Confederation, why would another two decades change anything?

dr.curien123
Not any that I know of. Quebec has been saying it for years, but I think not. BTW, I'm actually American, but I know what I'm talking about.

My bet would be on BC and Alberta.

I know everyone named Québec but let me tell you right now in Québec the last thing people want to talk about is separation. Even our hardcore separatists are having a change of heart and are questioning the purpose of the Bloc in Ottawa.

itssoeasy
trust me, there won't be any.

WINGNUT
If any I hope it's Quebec and I mean really separate,.cut off to be an island of their own. That way the Newfies and Maritimers wouldn't have as far to drive to get to Ontario.

I think a few may talk about it, and may even threaten it, but I don't think it will happen. I think Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta and Quebec will talk about it.

Party Time!
None, and Montreal is in Quebec to the idiot who said those were the two.
