Crazy Christian

What's it like in Canada? Living there?

Is it a lot different than the US? What does one do to move to Canada?

Well since your name is Crazy Christian you wouldn't like it here. Gays have the same rights as non-gays. Very few people go to church. Oh, we have a government run health care system which, according to the Republicans, is the worst imaginable thing.

I lived there for over a year during college. Canada is great. There is no racism there at all and it is very multi cultural, "lots of Arabs, Hindus, Asians, etc etc...Everyone marries everyone and gets along great. Very liberal country. Very polite, humorous, and friendly people, and a nice place to party...

it depends on where in Canada you live. ive lived in edmonton, alberta which was a nice, peaceful city will a great mall! the west edmonton mall is huge! it has an indoor amusement park and waterpark, and skating rink and a whole lot of stores. its more of a residential city and has a nice downtown.

i currently live in toronto, ontario which i would have to say is nicer than edmonton except for the fact that we could use a huge mall like edmonton. we have some pretty big malls like fairview and the eaton center and toronto is more of an urban city but i love it here! it has something for everyone. if you have any more questions, feel free to email me at glam_gothic_gurl@yahoo.ca

if you are thinking of moving here, this website is very helpful...

p.s. it gets pretty cold in Edmonton, temperatures average from -32 degrees celcius in the winter(-25 Fahrenheit) to 30 degrees celcius in the summer (86 Fahrenheit).

p.s. in Toronto the temps average from -20 degrees celcius in the winter (-4 degrees farenheit) to 35 degrees celcius in the summer (95 farenheit).

Living in Canada is not much different than that of the US. Here everyone goes to work or school all day, then come home at night. Essentially living here isn't much of a difference. To move to canada you would need to apply to get canadian citizenship if you plan to move here permanently, but if you just want a cottage or something like that you don't need citizenship provided you are only in the country for less than a certain amount of time.

It's not much different from the States, however, there is less racial tension here, less paranoia, and most of all, less arrogance! But me stating this sounds like a paradox, I know, lol! :)

Seriously, I like it better here, and I have lived in the States for 15 years. The fastest way to become a permanent resident would be by applying through a provincial nominee program. You have to see if you can apply as a skilled worker, and then try to get nominated by a province under their provincial nominee program. See links provided below to help you along the immigration process. It took us a year from the start of the process to becoming landed immigrants (permanent residents). Can't wait to become a citizen next year! (It takes only 3 years as permanent residents to become a citizen here).

Good luck on your journey. :)

HandyMan
People are certainly more friendly to each other than in the US. Depends where you live, but it can get really cold and suffer a ton of deep snow in the winter.

to the dude who says that there is no racism in Canada, you're dead wrong. There is plenty of it around, it just dosent get the same type of play like it does in the U.S..... other than that, Canada is a fine place to live......
