What's life like in Toronto, Canada?

My mom has been offered a job in Toronto, and she is thinking about taking it. So i'd like to know what's life like over there.

Pros - Big famous city, good transportation, very convienient areas, multi-cultural, many festivals & fun things to do, mainly sunny, hot in the summertime, etc.

PLUS... your health services (doctors, hospitals) and education is "free". (paid through the 15% tax)

Cons - traffic, gas prices, taxes, winter weather! (you'd have to shovel)

----------------------------

If you're going to move here, I suggest moving north of downtown (or the suburbs) because it's cleaner, newer, and has less traffic. Good luck! :)

Great environment, super super high taxes. Oil price is 30% higher than the average in USA. It's quite safe, but still... 36 murders last year (better than NY... 388 murders).

I would live there if I could. Big city with some small town charm.

It's wonderful but pricey. If the job pays well she's fine.

Hi, You and your mum would really like it, this is the country of immigrants.. The Whole world is here. The crime is must safer here then many countries.... again it's just like any country, they have good areas and some bad area's, I have been here for over 20 plus years and i still haven't seen any bad area's, good luck...

Toronto is the safest metropolitan city in North America and it's a very beautiful city to live in :)

It's great! Lots to do, interesting ethnic scenes, cultural centers, plenty of concerts and sporting events; and best of all Canadians everywhere from everywhere in the world, very cosmopolitan.

Self-Centered people live there. There's about 3 shootings a night, maybe a homicide every other night. Cops are afraid to go into many areas because of the crime.
Toronto now compared to ten-fifteen years sucks.

Myself personally. I'd never ever move to Toronto under any circumstances.

it's pretty clean over there.........

Wow, some the highest crime rates...imagine Gary,IN?

cdn_firerescue

It blows. Everybody's selfish and only thinking about themselves here. I wouldn't even recommend it here to visit. Hell, I'm trying to get out...wanna trade houses?

If you are coming here, I'd recommend you living out in the northern suburbs; people are a lot nicer and smarter up there. This town called Newmarket is great and it's only an hour's drive from downtown Toronto. I used to work and go to school up at that area (while living in Scarborough) and I still call that my second home.

There are many many (recent) immigrants there from all over the world. Can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.
