It is hard to say. It depends on the person and his or her interests and age, and, of course whether you are a tourist or whether you live there all the time.
Probably a look at Stanley Park would be the first thing a tourist would appreciate. It is big and has nice scenery, as well as a variety of things you could do. It has an aquarium and a children's zoo. As well, you would find a lot of lookout points to get views of the harbour and of the city. It has a lot of totem poles.
The second place I would recommend to a tourist is the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. It is a pedestrian bridge that you can walk across and get a view of a deep canyon underneath.
If you lived there or were to spend a lot of time there, you would probably benefit from checking out the restaurants and night clubs. A guide book would show you the prices. If you are into sports, you might want to take a trip to Whistler Mountain for skiing and snowboarding.
A good way to kill some time in the city is to visit Granville Island and look at the shops and food outlets. Otherwise, you could visit the marketplace on the shore of North Vancouver. It is accessible by hovercraft, as part of the city transit, across a small inlet, and it has a lot of the same kind of thing. It is generally cheaper to visit than Granville Island, which has quite a few trendy and expensive restaurants. |

For sure go to Stanley Park, check out the "new" library which was inspired by Rome's Colosseum, Robson Street, which has exclusive shops and restaurants, and the bars and clubs are all great, str8 or gay, the science centre is great. If you can find a native Pow Wow (sacred dance gathering) that is real fun and the natives will really welcome you there.Grouse Mountain and Cypres, are excellent places to see winter or summer. And if you have the time get on a ferry to Vancouver Island, u can see killer whales, if u do go to Vancouver Island (1:30 hrs trip) you have to go to Butchard Gardens it is spectacular. Just to name a few. |

Go skiing during the day at Grouse or Cypress Mountain, then head downtown for a nice lunch in the west end and maybe later, a bit of the nightlife. |

Depends what you feel like?
Touristy?
- St. Andrew's church it was used in a lot of movies.
- the BC Sports Hall of Fame located in BC Place Stadium
- Gas Town which is a cobblestone street located (with a not so nice area on one side, but a pretty waterfront on the other) with a lot of amazing restaurants and toursity shops
- Stanley Park has a train ride, a seawall, beautiful sights and trees plus the Vancouver Aquarium is located there too (It's the Aqua World seen in the Movie "Good Luck Chuck" but don't expect to see the Penguin Exhibt or Jessica Alba for that matter)
- Chinatown (they have a great night market) plus a lotta good eats.
- Granville Island wonderful shops, a couple of live act theatres, great eats, and really beautiful at night. Stop at the backstage lounge for a brew or two.
- Science World - not just for geeks! Amazing exhibts, interesting, and has an IMAX theatre included in it.
Sporting/Events:
- Vancouver Canucks or Giants hockey games. Canucks are in the NHL professional league, the Giants are in the Western Hockey Junior League. Giants tickets are quite reasonable, the Canucks may be sold out and a little pricey. Both definietly worth a watch.
- BC Lions football. Many time Grey Cup Champs!! If you're American CFL is different than NFL.. but I'm not a football fan so I can't tell you why.
- Tony & Tina's Wedding. Wanna try out an authentic Italian Wedding!! Go to this interactive play. It's super amazing fun! Like your a guest at a real wedding. From the ceremony to the reception. Includes dinner.
Shopping:
- Metrotown (about 5 stops on the skytrain) has like 500 stores in it.
- Robson Street has all the higher end (Louis Vutton, etc) and other main stream stores.. may even catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two.
- Granville Street - many fun eccletic stores, includes some chains too! :)
Eats:
- Memphis Blues
- Anywhere on Commercial Street (where little italy, little india and all the 'littles' come together)
- Shabbusen
- Earls, Red Robins, White Spot
- Morton Steakhouse ($$$$)
- Gotham Steakhouse ($$$$)
Clubish/Bars/Pubs:
- Blarney Stone Irish Pub (great dancing, live irish pub bands)
- Bourbon (live local bands)
- Media Club (live local Bands)
- Plush (club)
- Crush (club)
- Sonar (techno club) |

Depends on what your interests are, and how much time you have. I would recommend Stanley Park or Queen Elizabeth Park, Gas Town (with the gas clock), the various ferry trips available, shopping, going along the shore and seeing all the driftwood strewn around (remnants of logging up the Fraser River), the Granville area, and see the daily paper as to what is happening around the city. There are also a lot of daily events in the surrounding area, depends on the time of year. |
