There are several islands off the east coast of Canada. The two largest are actually provinces.
Newfoundland is an island that is part of Canada, but not part of the main continent. The full name of the province is "Newfoundland and Labrador", but Labrador is actually the section attached to the mainland, next to Quebec.
Likewise, there is Prince Edward Island. It is much smaller than Newfoundland, but still considered a separate province on its own.
Nova Scotia looks like an island, but if you check a map, you will see it is actually attached to New Brunswick between the cities of Sackville and Amherst.
And finally, there are even a couple of foreign islands just off the coast of Canada. Just south of Newfoundland are the islands of St. Pierre & Miquelon, which actually belong to France.
Hope that helps you.

Prince Edward Island is the furtherest East. PEI is actually a province. Newfoundland is actually partially attached to the mainland. Here is a map that also shows some other Islands as well.

I assume you mean the closest Island off the eastern coast of New Brunswick, Canada. (Which is the eastern most Province (State) ) of the mainland, (or close enough).
It's Prince Edward Island.
Twisted?
