Iggy spent his childhood living in various foreign countries ( his Father was a Canadian Ambassador ) and he only came back to Canada to go to the U of T, where he and Rae were room mates.
He then spent 30 years of his adult life working as a Professor at Harvard. So how much of a Canadian is he ?
He has never had to actually work for a living, and has never had to run anything that requires a get up realy and work late attitude. He is a product of a socialised life style, with family money to insulate him from the realities that most Canadian have to worry about.
He is so far removed from the "working people ' of Canada that he may as well have been dropped from a alien space ship. But he has all the right atributes to be a Liberal party leader, for sure. He is aloof and arrogant and smug , and he knows just what we need.
Just listen to him talk, it reminds me of that rat bag Pierre.
Thank goodness that he won't win the Libeal party leadership, Bob Rae will. And way too many people still remember what Rae did to Ontario, when he was the Ontario Government leader, in the 1990's
. Remember Rae Days, ? When Ontario Government workers worked a day each week ,for NO PAY, to balance the Ontario budget ? He skipped out of the Ontario NDP party , to have a chance to sit in Ottawa, as a Liberal MP. A rank opportunist.

The same as for Bob Rae. No way. We need someone that comes from somewhere else. No Ontarians or Quebecois. Lets get a face in from the maritimes or the western provinces. Bob Rae is a turncoat NDP er and Ignatieff is so boring he puts you to sleep. |

I think he has potential. He's not stupid and the fact he stuck around after losing the leadership convention to work with the party fairly cooperatively says good things about him.
It would be nice to have a viable choice to Harper and nice to understand what the Liberal leader is actually saying!! |

I feel sorry for Stephane Dion in that while he is an intelligent man, he never did present a strong capable image and did not or could not (due to limited funds) strike back against the Tory attack ads.
The Liberal Party at the moment needs not only a new leader but a leader that will inspire confidence and bring the party to the centre and clearly create a mission and identity for the party.
They also need cash. The sooner they split with Dion, the sooner they can try to fill the war chest.
Ignatieff has never struck me as inspiring confidence but at the moment he outshines the alternatives as there is no clear frontrunner or obvious choice. Which is how the Liberals wound up in this mess to begin with.
Would Danny Williams be interested. I'd love to see that Leaders' Debate. My only other choice would be Rick Mercer.
