One of the first things that pops into my head is that Canadians and Canadian banks are very accommodating to people needing any foreign currency but especially American money. Spend American dollars as is or get it changed in a bank - anywhere. Coins are interchangeable here. I have had the odd Canadian penny that got mixed in with my American money thrown - not even handed back but thrown back at me south of the border. That attitude might be one girl having a bad day but I have run into in different states and on different visits so I do have to wonder about that.
Most other things that I can think of have already been mentioned so I won't waste pixels rewriting them. :o) |

I believe that they have medical care for all . Now I could be wrong but I think that its true. It is provided by Canada for Canadians only . |

1) Canada has national healthcare so if you lose your job or can't find one and get so sick of jobsearching you pass out? You have healthcare.
In the US you'd have to either choose between paying a premium or paying your credit card balance. This helps more people than it hurts.
2) Canadians generally have less stress in their lives, more wide open space, more untouched scenery, more time to think, read, reflect on life.
3) Canada has 10% of the US population so the unity and cohesiveness of the people of Canada and their influence in the democratic process is 10 times stronger. |

We're intelligent and care about our neighbors more than the broken down capitalism that exists in the States. |

Universal healthcare system-free medical attention and hospitalization
1 yr maternity leave paid
We're multicultural and we embrace people from other cultures and religions
We cohabitate well with people from other ethnicities and reliogions
We dont have crazy leaders... I dont like the Prime Minister but he's anything but wild crazy
Like sb said the world doesnt hate Canadians
We arent as stressed as Americans

1)The hospitals are free if you have a medi care card, but I'm pretty sure the hospitals are better in the States.
2)Nobody hates Canada.
3)People are friendlier. *NOTE: In Quebec, most people are not friendly. I live in Montreal and most people are not friendly. In the other provinces, everybody is friendlier. If you have kids that already started school and they don't speak french, he/she will be expected to catch-up with everyone else. |

Canadians are nicer and more thoughtful overall. The country is not overrun with guns, has healthcare for everyone, loads of raw materials, and has a more exciting variant of football.
Now on the "negative" side, the weather sucks.
Sports is another issue. Americans are sports crazy. You guys aren't very good at anything besides Hockey, because IMO you don't value sports very highly. Disagree? Look at where you don't spend your money.
Look at stadiums. Canadians hemm and haww about spending money to build a 10K stadium to support a community of 400K. In Texas, we have HIGH SCHOOL stadiums that seat 20K. There is just a difference in mindset. You guys worry about the bottom falling out every day and so you fret about paying for stadiums. We know that when the bottom does fall out, we will just work hard and dig ourselves out, so we don't. That is a confidence that comes out of sports, ...IMO.
We use our love of sports to ingrain competitiveness in all endeavors in our kids. That helps us on a number of levels. That is IMO a big part of why we have been pioneers in a most areas. Canadians defer, again IMO, a bit too much for their own well being.
I admire a lot of things about Canada, but the weather and the non-competiveness (frankly often covered by excuse making) would drive me nuts. Great place to visit though. |
