1. Work things out with your parents. If you can't, try to find one of your relatives or friends who would take you in.

2. If you want to be on your own, you'd better stay in America, because without a permit, you can't legally work in Canada. The only thing you can do is babysit for cash...maybe landscape for cash...but that's illegal.

3. My son, 17, is overly eager to get out of our house, too (doesn't like his dad ordering him around and making sure he takes care of responsibilities). We told him that if he leaves the house because he hates us, he'll get no financial help from us whatsoever. But if he holds on until high school graduation, he can move out that day, start college whereever he wants, and we'll help him out financially, just as we did his sister.

4. How are you going to finish school? In Canada? And college? You're setting yourself up for a life as a world-class loser, because you won't be qualified to do anything but dig ditches.

Your plan has lots of nasty holes in it. You've got to take into account that you need to eat, pay bills, transportation, etc. You shouldn't split from the people supporting you until you've obtained a good job where you can finish school. Getting out of their house is very important. I understand. In the short term, you'll feel much better. But education is something that will affect the rest of your life, so make sure it's in your plans, too.

There are no good jobs for anyone who is 16 and hoping to make it on his or her own. This romantic idea that with the right intentions you can overcome adversity is best left to movies. Reality is a LOT tougher!
Even if you could move to Canada legally at your age, you could not hope to get any job that will allow you to afford even the most basic of living arrangements. The minimum wage for Ontario is $7.00/hour. Let's do some math.
$7.00/hrx40 hours/week=$280.00/week x 4 weeks per month = $1120.00
But wait, there's more!
From that, you have income tax to pay, CPP, EI and that's not even counting things like rent, utilities, transportation, food, clothing and any other living expenses.
The average rent for a cheesy one bedroom flat in cities like Toronto is close to $900.00/month. What does that leave you with - $220.00. Now you have utilities to pay, which can range anywhere from $1-200/month. Let's say your total utilities bills come to $100.00. From $220.00 that leaves you $120.00 per month to get to and from your minimum wage job, buy food and whatever clothing you will need.
Conclusion? Sort things out with your parents and stop dreaming about the romance of "running away". It's a dumb idea!

Do not run away.
If you did run away you would end up deported back to the USA.
Show your question to your parents or guardians and be willing to enter into a serious and honest discussion about your future.
In 2 years you can attempt to legally move to Canada.

first of all you would need a green card to work there too. and some one to sponsor you. then you would be able to get a job most any where like in the states. but why run away now, stick it out until your 18 and then leave home legally. you would be able to apply for citizenship there like you could here. and to get into Canada you need a passport now too. that is like 100 + bucks

The only way you can work in Canada is illegally. Even if you were able to secure a job that pays under the table, there's going to very few landlords that will rent a room or apartment to a 16yr old kid. You're going to have a lot of trouble finding either of those two things.
If you really want to come to Canada, then wait till you finish high school and apply at some colleges and universities here. Then you will be legally allowed to live and work here (until you graduate anyway).

What is Canada's minimum wage? That's what you'll be working for, if you can get a visa and work permit. At 16 Canada isn't a very good option. You need to finish school unless you just want to be a entry level minimum wage person the rest of your life.
