Canada does not have as large a military, however we only have 1/10 of the population. However per capita, our military is very similarly sized.

Gas cost more as our government does not subsidize it, rather it taxes it greatly.

The Canadian food inspection agency also has some really rigid guidelines as to what they can call a "breakfast cereal" so in Canada we don't have cookie crisp or fruity pebbles.

That is about it, otherwise Canada kicks ***.

To the previous poster: Canada actually has more guns per capita than the USA. Many Canadians are packing heat, however for some reason, we really don't shoot each other.

I'm Canadian and I'm going to answer this as truthfully as possible.

The health care varies from province and doesn't cover things such as dentistry or prescription medication. So, it's not as if we're completely covered. As far as crime goes, it is better. Though, there is still gang violence in cities such as Toronto.

However, what I think Canada lacks in this current period of time is political will. Right now, we like to stay out of trouble and watch as the world goes by. The general population really doesn't care what the politicians do as long as it doesn't effect our daily lives. We also yield to other countries all the time, but that can't be helped due to our population and lack of nuclear weaponry.

Another aspect to consider is that we are less competitive. I once heard that taking a year off between high school and university looks bad on your resume in the states, which I don't think it does in Canada because taking a break isn't a bad thing to us. We don't care about winning as much as we do having fun I guess. It's hard to explain.

I can't really think of anything else we're lacking against the American system, but if you asked about what we're lacking against a Norwegian system I'd have many more answers for you.

btw, not all of Canada's cold, that's a stereotype.

Every country has its weaknesses, but I've traveled a lot and there's no place I'd rather live in than my native Canada.

USA is abit ahead of us.

They have Hollywood and all the places you see on tv... We are more cutoff. On alot of websites, like Amazon, you can't get things sent up. EBAY charges more for shipping. And some of the tv shows, like Desperate Housewives and such, you cant' view online. Also they have tecnology before we do.

The thing they really have on us is that their dollar is worth more.

Other than these little things, not much. I am from Canada and I perfer it hear SO much.

US has an advantage in gun control.....we get more guns =D Personally I like guns so weather its an advantage is debatable.......guns dont kill people....people kill people.....if there were no guns bad people would use knives.....no knives they would use rocks.....better to own a gun and be able to defend your self..........

they're soooooo easy to make fun of...strengths of canada that the US is lacking hmmm...well i think half of canada is composed of Americans who got sick of America...Canada is better fiscally, and infrastructurally...but it's cold and it looks like bakersfield, there's french people, and they have vowel issues.
