The most recent problem is the Minority Gov. trying to force a non confidence vote that will result in an election, they are riding high in the popularity pools and want to capitalize on it. Next on the list is the recent increase of the Looney (Canadian Dollar), for the first time in over 30 years it is worth as much or more than the U.S. dollar, then you have Foreign countries trying to lay claim to land Canada has maintained is theirs for decades, and of course with the price of oil, there is a major job shortage in Alberta. |

One big issue that is a blessing and a problem is the rising value of the Canadian dollar. It is good because our imported goods should be cheaper for us to buy. It is really bad because our economy relies on exports, mostly to the US. It makes our goods more expensive for Americans to buy.
Another issue is the potential rate hike in royalties the province of Alberta may impose on oil companies. It is a problem because most oil companies claim that they will cut investment if the royalty rate is imposed. It is also a problem because most Albertans believe we deserve more for their oil.
Also there is controversy over the country's involvement in Afghanistan. The country is divided over whether it is a good idea to be involved in the war or not. |

I'm a Canadian - but I'm not too sure what kind of problems you're inquiring about (there could be a lot of areas, I don't want to throw a whole load of stuff at you that wouldn't be the slightest bit helpful).
Really, your best bet would be to take a look at one of our news websites such at http://ctv.ca. It'll probably give you a lot more info that will help you since you know what you need to look for.
Best of luck to you on your paper :) |

The citizens have to give half of their income to the government on taxes and mostly due to fact that health care for all are paid for. The draw back is the quality of care is less than the United States. |

They're still in Afganistan... the value of the dollar is falling... the rate of homelessness is rising... they're concerned about future imbalances in the global financial system due to huge capital flows... do you want more than that? |

illegalisation of some religious and medical drugs like marijuana. If you think of it marijuana has more medicinal uses than bad side effects and it helps patients suffering cancer releif their pain. Also the hindus use it as a religious device, so it's kind of preventing to follow their religion.
