In Canada, healthcare is free, but you have to wait several weeks, or even months to see a specialist or get surgery.
Taxes are higher in Canada, but I think we get better benefits. For example, all employees get a one year maternity leave here, paid for by the government. This applies to fathers, too, if the mother decides she wants to go back to work early.
There is less crime in Canada, but punishments for offenders aren't as harsh as in the US.
Overall, though, I think life is pretty similar on both sides of the border. |

Okay.
Canada -higher taxes= free healthcare
U.S.- lower taxes = no heathcare
Canada-
Lower crime rate, more eco friendly, nicer people, ALOT lower cost for secondary education, lower mortgage rates, less population, not as much of an immigration problem, etc.
And now that the U.S. dollar is almost equal to the Canadian dollar.
U.S.-
Hmmmmm......can't think of anything for that!! |

Im prejudiced I love being Canadian.....less crime. universal health care, ability in school to become bilingual, changing of the seasons (except for freezing weather, we dont have many tornados, earthquakes or tidal waves,,,I cant say never because I did feel an earthquake once, everyone else in the room laughed at me, when I kept telling the boys to stop shaking my chair only to find out hours later there were some tremors) Also the streets are kept clean...I heard an american film crew set up an alley to look like the US with trash slewn everywhere...and when they came back from lunch it had been cleaned and they had to dirty it back up and shoot the scene over so it would look the same. I love to visit the US but Im glad to come home!! |

I have lived and worked (and paid taxes) in both countries.
There is very little difference, despite what some people say.
Public attitudes are similar (and vary in both countries) and the standard of living is about the same. Both countries also need to address the poverty that exists, despite their wealth.
(Would like public health care in the US, however.) |
